We've won 5 straight since dropping Josh Smith by an average of 18 pts per game. We haven't beaten any good teams (cavs???) on the streak and the shooting % may not be sustainable. However, it is no doubt that Josh Smith had been a bigger black hole in our offense than I thought. We had struggled to beat shitty teams before and now we're blowing them out.

It reminds me of a certain team getting rid of Rudy Gay.

If you dump Jennings, you might just start a dynasty.

Josh smith must have been locker room poison on that team, it is astounding how well they have played without him and also how he was abruptly released.

Also of note is the Rockets are just 0.500 since picking him up after an early season tear. And he has be relegated to coming off the bench for them already. However, these records likely have more to do with the competition they have faced than the trade (more so for the Rockets than the Pistons). The Pistons have had an easy stretch since trading Smith: but as noted above, they had been losing to these teams before the trade. The Rockets record, on the other hand, was bloated with a fairly light early schedule and they have faced some very good teams since acquiring Smith, so this may just be who the Rockets are and not due to Smith. We will need a larger sample size to see, but it sure does seem that the Pistons are better without him---maybe Monroe will stay.

One less team for the Lakers to compete with for the worst record and the Rockets 2015 first rounder from the Lin trade getting better. Great move for the Lakers. Go Pistons!

Former Pistons fan here, good to see them getting it together. 4 games out of a playoff spot, who knows they make sneak in?

I think they have taken a step back. But not ready to say it yet

I think it is something called injuries.

How many games have Parker, Manu, Leonard, Duncan, Splitter, & Mills played together? That right there is almost everyone in their rotation and I'm not sure if they played a single game together this season

They had injuries last year. And still played at a high level

They did not have injuries so keep into January with multiple important players missing.

Most night this season they have been missing at least 2 of those guys and on some nights 3

Parker, Splitter, Leonard, & Mills have all either already passed the numbers of games they missed last season or is 1 or 2 missed games away from passing their total from last year.

Parker missed 14 games all of last year.....already missed 14 this season

Leonard missed 16 games last year. Tonight he missed his 14th game

Splitter missed 23 games last year....already missed 22 this season

Mills only played 4 games this season. Played in 81 of 82 last season

I think they'll be fine if they can actually get healthy. My concern is if they will actually be able to get healthy

This year is exceeding all possible injury worst case scenarios.

Duncan, Parker, Ginobili, and Leonard are UNDEFEATED this season when they play together.

But it almost has never happened.

Parker limped back last night....but I think he will be out again. He probably should not have played.

Leonard might be out another month.

And something happened to Duncan last night where he had to sit out for a long time.

............

They might not even win 45 games if this keeps up.

Josh Smith has the Rudy Gay affect. Trade him away and your team will start winning.

Grizz trade Gay.... team wins.
Raptors trade Gay... team wins.

Hawks trade Smith... team wins.
Pistons trade Smith... team wins.

Those two only care about stats and that's why they'll never be on winning/title contending teams. Talented, but selfish. Luckily for Smith, his team is stacked so he'll win even if he isn't contributing all that much.
