I said about a week and a half ago his dismal start when he couldn't get an out in the 2nd inning was alarming. Today is much of the same and our rotation right now is awful. We need pitching in a very bad way.

I can't imagine myself saying this until now... but would you give Tillman's rotation spot to Britton in a pinch? (The closer role could go to O'Day during this temporary arrangement, I guess...)

I would swap Britton with any of our starters right now. And I do many ANY!

Well, the problem is that there is only one Britton available... and who knows if he would actually be able to post a sub-4.50 ERA as a starter? Really, if I were Buck, I would seriously consider the last resort of playing every game as a "relay" (i.e. short start + many relievers)... since the entire rotation is performing at a #4/5 level (and no amount of trading or free agent signing is enough to reconstruct a five-man staff).

[Side note: To be fair, I don't think Tillman has struggled this badly since 2012. Could he be hurt...?]

They need Gausman to come up and start contributing now.

Your right, you have to hope a few of them turn it around, trade for Smardjza (sp) and hope that Santana, Gausman or Bundy can help. It's a stretch I know but with our current situation we can only hold out hope.

I agree...but they have to stop setting him up to fail when they bring him up...bringing him up on 3 and 4 days rest is absurd and then sending him down...no wonder he hasnt developed yet

it seems tilly needs to go on dl and fix his leg problem before he hurts his arm . what a huge 10 game home stand ? 8-2 would be sweet

Getting to the point where they need to sweep Toronto to stay within striking distance. Two of three against Oakland would be great.

I'm wondering if a lot of it is mental. I hope that if he can get a good start next time out it could put him back on track to the pitcher we saw in the first few starts of the season.

tilly has a leg problem everything is up . he is lucky to hit 90 mph if not for gonzo he would have gotten extra rest . i can see the need for a 6 man rotation . let gausman get 2 starts until johan gets a shot .
