Nothing like a good dose of the Reds, to make the Cubs healthy. The Reds couldn't buy a break the last week, especially against the Cubs. I thought that in all 3 of those games the umpires squeezed the plate. And not that I think it would have made a difference, but that replay call was questionable. but I doubt it would have made a difference anyway

Nothing like a 6 game losing streak and rain in the forecast to boost attendance.

The Reds have a monthly special this season where fans can get a top six ticket to every home game for less than $30 per month. Buy a cheap ticket and upgrade to a better seat. I haven't sat next to the same person twice this season.

The Reds see it as marketing.....
I'm seeing it as why should I pay full price next season?

Watching this season unfurl and being told to at least be patient with the strategy of the new general manager, I gave it a quarter of a season. Optimism is what I do in spring training. Cautious optimism flows in after the first of the 5/5ths of the rotation goes on the "10-day" disabled list. After that turns into a "well, he won't be back till the first of June," then i wait for the second guy to hit the list. Then, the third ... finally, I start hearing that the only people who are ready to pitch need more time in Pensacola.

So when it's obvious the Reds can score 5 runs against the Cubs, it's also obvious they will give up at least 7.

So back to Williams, and where did this team assert that going into spring training, they already knew they needed 3 starters, so they hired Feldman and Arroyo ... who are now the staff aces.

But man we have one FUCKOFALOT OF PROSPECTS in the minors who will surely help this team next year.

Which means that since almost none of these prospects are getting anything in MLB except workman's comp, I guess I can wait it out. They will eventually learn to pitch, as Cody Reed assures us.

And Homer Bailey.

And Disc-slip Desclafani

And Flap Finnegan

I am now in the 7th decade of my life.

Hamilton sure does strike out a lot for a leadoff hitter, but when he does hit the ball somewhere besides straight up, it's exciting.
I'm not sure what happened last night in that 5th inning when Kiviehan was caught stealing 3rd on an 0-2 to count on Hamilton , and only 1 out. But it was ugly. took them right out of the inning And the whole game turned. Sort of reminded me of Suarez being picked off 3rd after a walk. This is happing to much to the Reds.
That was 7 in a row, and most of them have been blow outs.
Is it just me? But it seems like Reds pitcher hang more breaking balls than any other team in baseball?
Just getting frustrated

Price fucked up by leaving Bonilla in the game. I think he's trying to prove that the washboard leftovers have to pitch 7 innings or else. Taking a fastball off his knuckles and still leaving him in the game is inexcusable.
I mean IN-EX-CUS-A-BLE.

not to mention giving up 4 hits and 3 runs with 0 outs, before he does take him out in that 6th inning

Even tHom Brenneman said that if Bonilla wasn't scrap lumber, he'd have been hit-for in the 5th, asserting that guys like him and Adleman aren't really very valuable to the team. I guess that's true but it still is inexcusable to put a guy out there who got hit by a pitch on his pitching fingers. After he had 90 pitches already. I mean, geez, the game was winnable at that point.

A lot of questionable decisions for Price between the 5th and 6th.

Why was neither the catcher or pitching coach sent to the mound as the inning was unraveling? It's standard baseball 101 for damage control and allowing the reliever to get ready.

The Reds are averaging over 5 runs a game lately since leaving SF.
So there's that.

Still better than most of those guys they brought up that couldn't get through the 1st inning.

What happened to Stuart Turner? They put him on the 10 + day DL, Must of swallowed a sunflower seed sitting on the bench. They did bring up that guy, that used to be on Barney Miller, and he did well.. You probably have to be over 50 to get that.

Stooby Turner got oddly DL'd when it was learned that he had the same injury that Mesoraco almost had the day before, which allowed for Wojohowsowsky to come up and pitch 3 innings of stellar ball. I would guess that Turner goes on the 60 day DL pretty soon with an oblique injury which will put him past the time the Twins can reclaim him. By then it will be Sept. callups and the Reds won't care anymore.

This starting pitching staff is in shambles. I don't have much faith in any of them going 2 or 3 innings without giving up 2 or 3 runs. The only one of them that might be around in 2 years, is maybe Garrett. Price gave Bronson a vote of confidence, but to me he's not fooling anybody. It looked to me like the Rocky hitters were swinging with upper cuts trying to hit homeruns the whole time Arroyo was in there.

If Rob Brantly had minor league options, I think Stuart Turner would already be back with the Twins. IMO, it's a roster faux pas to have both minor league depth catchers without options.

Wojo was pitching well down on the farm and he brought it to Cincy with him. Most of the callups have only brought their luggage with them.

I'm interested to see what they do with Wojo now that they've added him to the 40 man roster. He doesn't have minor league options.

I'm tired of Price making excuses for Bronson.

I think the Reds could let Turner go but keeping him until Meso came back made some sense.
It appears they are guessing at it with their pitchers.
What will annoy me is that there are dozens of experts who think the Reds ought to dump Schebler or Duvall or Iglesias now for "prospects." I don't think the team will do that, so the blame game will start ginning up soon.
Meanwhile the idiots will blame it all on Votto and Homer Bailey.

Good game last night. I thought Price taking Feldman out when he did was the right decision. He was pretty much done in the 6th, but got out of it. I don't think he would have gotten out of the 7th.
