So long as he's healthy, that would be awesome IMO. Tons of experience and a good recruiting track record to boot.

Even with him, we'd have one of the youngest staffs in the country for a major program. In a year where we will be breaking in an entire new defensive scheme, that's not going to necessarily be an asset on the field. He can recruit, too.

"Buddy hires" are only a problem if the buddy isnt qualified. Otherwise it's finding people who will work well together. I'm shocked at the number of people elsewhere that are upset because he has worked with Diaco before. In a year that we are transitioning into a new defense that none of our guys have coached before with a new DC that they've never worked with before, this is an asset, not a liability.

yea, i have no problem with this hire. his resume looks good. as others have said, it's not a "buddy" hire when the dude is qualified for the position. MR bringing nearly his entire staff from OSU to NU was buddy hires and if he would have figured that out day 1 instead of year 3, we might be in a better position.
