Yeah, you're probably right, although I feel sorry for the local fans who keep on supporting the team by buying tickets and merch only to see their best players sold off time and time again.

While it sucks, at least they get to stick around the Prem largely without fear of the drop.

Look at Leicester. Yeah a Champions League run is fun but they're still threatened with relegation just a year after winning the title because they decided to hold onto guys who are probably worth half as much today as they were last June.
