Triple 9 (2016)

This took place in my city, so that was the primary impetus for me to check this one out. It's The Town meets The Departed, but not nearly as good. It's still pretty enjoyable and picks up as the movie goes along.

B
Triple 9: 3.5/5 stars. I really enjoyed this one, particularly Aaron Paul and Casey Affleck's performances.

For me, a 2 out of 5 movie is something like Van Helsing, Suicide Squad or Episode 2 of Star Wars.

A .05 out of 5 is one of those unwatchable movies on Mystery Science Theater.

Casino has a great director, great actors, solid acting and great camera work. If you're not rating its at least above average then that says more about you than the movie.

Suicide Squad: 6/10

10/10 for Margot Robbie’s promiscuity though.

Sorry bro, people can disagree on movies. It's the whole point. Baseball is (by and large) objective. That's why I love it. Film quality is completely subjective. That's also why I love it.

"A 3 hour movie that largely boils down to De Niro waving around his stupid fucking cigarette holder and rehashed much of everything we saw 5 years earlier in Goodfellas? Gee, 5/5 fucking stars!!!"

Elmore Leonard done by Soderbergh? 2 out of 5?

Heh.

C'mon dude. How the living fuck is that movie less than at the very least middle of the road?

Is it 5 out of 5? Nah. 2 out of 5? You're trying too hard.
If you don't like 2/5 stars, what do you think of 1/4 stars- from a top critic, no less?

People can disagree on movies but Casino has aged like fine wine.

Yes, the movie is too long. But its too long with Scorecese, De Niro, Sharon Stone and Joe Pesci in roles they were born to play with Vegas as the backdrop. Its bloated but its bloated with everything we are going to miss and the movie doesn't waste anything.

Its like the second season of Breaking Bad. Its slow but for people who really like Breaking Bad it really lets you into the universe.

So, is it objectively good or not? Also, Sharon Stone is 55% of my pure hatred for the film. One of the worst performances by an actress ever, IMO.

She won a Golden Globe for that performance and was nominated for an Academy Award for that performance

That's good for her. I'll dedicate the album to her after it goes platinum.

Good Time: 4/5 stars. I don't want to spoil anything, but one scene radically changed my rating, which I was thinking was going to be in the 3/5 star area, to what it currently is.

2017 film that starred Robert Pattinson, with Jennifer Jason Leigh and Barkhad Abdi appearing in one scene each for 5 minutes of screen for the both of them (I sort of understand why Abdi takes these small roles, I've seen him in a number of other movies since Captain Phillips (4.5/5 stars), but why JJL? I feel like she could get bigger roles. Maybe she really just wanted to appear in the movie:noidea:).

Pattinson gave a good performance, in that he was hard to watch. If anyone else has seen this movie, I think they would agree- we all know someone like that, who does everything impulsively on a whim no matter what the consequences and eventual destruction to them or their friends/family will be. That's why I think he was so hard to watch- you look at him and just can't stand him.

While most critics focused on Pattinson's work, and like I said- I liked him a lot, the greatness of this movie is in the script and the directing. It was about as visually entertaining as it gets (outside of something like Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas), and it featured numerous camera features from the directors that amazed me. One in particular involved a guy getting beat up.

Great fucking ending. I was so happy for the mentally challenged dude to finally get away from the leech that Pattinson's character was. And I'm even ok that it showed psychiatry in a positive light, because I think it was technically correct, but more importantly, it was deserved.

2/5 stars is middle of the road, dude. I don't know the exact percentages, but I bet my film ratings would roughly fit a bell curve. Definitely, in my mind, the movie was in the middle of the road movies that suck category. One of the better middle of the road movies that suck too.

maybe you should read up on bell curves my friend.
