I was very young when the movie came out and all I knew was that I liked baseball so I enjoyed it just fine. But when I got older and read the book I was never able to look at what they'd done to the material in the same way again. It changes everything about the story, and not for the better in my opinion.

I liked the movie better and it was definitely different than the book. The movie clearly is a nostalgic anthem to baseball and I'm not sure that's the goal of the book.

Last new movie I watched was I, Tonya. Really good acting by Margot Robbie and Allison Janney who plays her mom.

Going to see Annihilation in the theater tomorrow. I can't wait for a rip version of that and it's the type of SciFi movie I'm into... intelligent and different plot. The fact it didn't do well in theaters in the US and not many people got into it and the rest of the World was pissed it was going to Netflix and not theaters means it'll probably be a good movie.

Saw "The shape of water"

I can see why people liked it, creative, moving in many way but the end was just too grim.

Of the oscar movies I've seen

The Shape of Water
Dunkirk
Ladybird
I'Tonya
The Post

My order

Dunkirk (historical war movie that didn't have a chance but really the most coherent and best made)
I'Tonya (Fiction? Reality?) fascinating film
Ladybird
The Shape of Water
The Post

CBGB - Rickman giving birth to punk...

A Soldier's Story - Great movie. Trials and tribulations of black troops nearing the end of WWII.

Saw Lady Bird. Was pretty good. A sweet, quirky film. Also, go Kings!

Saw I, Tonya.

It feels like it grabs 'Wolf on Wall Street' and 'OJ: Made in America' and slams it together in a 4-D chess version of 'he said, she said.' The movie gives you plenty of chances to go back to your initial opinion of Tonya Harding only to violently bring you back into the main (arguably fictional) narrative of the movie over and over again.
Tonya Harding wasn't perfect because we aren't perfect and the idea of perfection is just bullshit. The movie tries to actively shame the audience in multiple scenes, too, which is an interesting way to go about things.

Its a movie that tries too hard but it loves how much it tries too hard and it makes you laugh far more than it should. Probably my 2nd or 3rd favorite movie of 2017 and about as interesting as you can make the subject as far as I can tell.

Saw the power rangers move on hulu.

It was ok.

Some major changes. Some work better than others. Rather slow developing movie.

Triple 9 (2016)

This took place in my city, so that was the primary impetus for me to check this one out. It's The Town meets The Departed, but not nearly as good. It's still pretty enjoyable and picks up as the movie goes along.

Saw Casino.

Maybe some of the best camera work of all time with some great actors. Individually it has about 30 great scenes but the movie as a whole isnt as good as the sum of its parts. The nonfiction script really is harder to work with than a fiction one and I feel like the script isnt as strong as the rest of the movie. Still, if someone said this was their favorite movie ever then I could see why.

Out of Sight: 2/5 stars. Mildly enjoyable for parts, but probably the most forgettable film possible given the fact that Soderbergh directed; Clooney, Cheadle, and Albert Brooks starred; and Jennifer Lopez got half-naked.

Elmore Leonard done by Soderbergh? 2 out of 5?

Heh.

C'mon dude. How the living fuck is that movie less than at the very least middle of the road?

Is it 5 out of 5? Nah. 2 out of 5? You're trying too hard.

Not to mention, it's EASILY the best performance Lopez has ever given. That alone makes it notable.

That was an easy one to rate. And I could give the film a 0/5 for all it's worth if I wanted to, and I would be write (I would rate the movie 0/5 stars). But Out of Sight's quality was that of a 2/5 star film. Lopez was a piece of ass, Clooney might have aroused me if I was gay when he took his shirt off, but otherwise, meh.

Fucking. MEH.

2/5 stars is middle of the road, dude. I don't know the exact percentages, but I bet my film ratings would roughly fit a bell curve. Definitely, in my mind, the movie was in the middle of the road movies that suck category. One of the better middle of the road movies that suck too.

Casino: 0.5/5 stars. Complete and total fucking trash. (And btw, I'm not just doing this to piss off @chf. I've expressed my disgust towards Scorsese's great blunder numerous times.)

"Grown Ups featured Rob Schneider's best performance ever. That ALONE makes it notable."

Need to go a little easier on the Tylenol w/Codeine tablets they've got OTC up there, bud.
