This does seem to be a bit much on the hyperbole scale. That said, I looked back a year ago to see what I thought about the movie I wrote:

"Its fun. It will be forgotten in 3 months. They basically crammed a movie no one wanted to watch in with a better looking remake of Star Wars and then assaulted your eyes for a couple of hours with action scenes."

So I'm fairly on board with the overrated idea but I wouldn't say its terrible. Its just not original but that seems to be a recent trend in movies and video games.

Anyways, finally saw American Sniper. Good movie that really drags on like the war it covers. I found the first half to be better than the second. Watching the sniper scope as he chooses to kill or not is a very good movie hook and I suspect we'll see more of that in future action movies.

Cooper carries the movie and the ending is fairly touching but the actual action scene in his last tour is somewhat bizarre in the context of the rest of the movie. He basically got his entire unit killed but got bailed out by a sandstorm. Overall the movie functions as a better version of the Hurt Locker almost to the point where it renders it irrelevant. B+
Okay then. I'll change it to 1/10.

Re-watched The Revenant. Whomever mentioned that Hardy may well have been more Oscar worthy than DiCaprio was 100% correct.

Hardy is still pretty underrated imo. He's one of the better actors of the last 20 years.

Gods of Egypt. Wow, was it bad! A turd wrapped in a huge CGI budget.

May be the most overrated movie of all time.

Ostensibly a carbon-copy of IV

A reboot in the same tradition as the new Star Trek movie. A different script (but very close to the original) with new characters (or actors playing the same characters). I liked them both actually.

Less Than Zero 7/10

RDJ- awesome. Good cast. 80s drugs and teens. Seen it many times. Will watch it many more times. Didn't like the way the parents/ adults acted.

Have any of you ever wondered if you were the only person in the world watching a particular movie at a certain time?

I still liked DiCaprio more, but Hardy WAS fucking awesome in the movie. 4.5/5
If there was an award for most time spent in a movie in excruciating pain, then that would he all Dicaprio. I thought Hardy's performance had a lot more depth.

I was in the mood to watch a B movie and found this one, since it's been probably close to 20 years since I've seen it. Better than I remembered and it's always fun to watch A list actors slumming in low budget movies before they make it big. 3/5

Finally saw American Hustle.

Outside of getting to see a whole lot of Amy Adams, the first half of the movie was a very difficult watch. Basically a bunch of great actors having leverage over each other reading fortune cookies for an hour in various settings. I like the idea of many of the scenes in the beginning as they develop the characters and their complicated relationships to the point where every character is just as about as complex as any person you would know in real life. The scene where Adams and Cooper go clubbing really encapsulates the whole first half of the movie. Its not entertaining in any way but important for relating to the characters and their motives. Adams and Bale are basically the only things pulling you through the movie until the plan comes together and the movie really takes off around when Robert De Niro makes his cameo. Every scene from there on out is perfect and I really like the one with Bale and Lawrence fighting after she reveals the plan to her boyfriend.

I'd probably give it an A- but you have to be in the right mood for it.
