Watched "The Boss" last night. There were some funny parts, but overall it was pretty blah. Kristen Bell isn't even cute anymore, so she wasn't able to bail it out. 2/5

I had to watch this piece of shit while babysitting my best friend's kid. I was incredibly relieved when even he didn't like it.

Melissa McCarthy is one of those "stars" that I would never pay money to see. If one of her movies were available for free, than MAYBE I will watch it, but yer style of comedy just makes me angry.

I was only able to stomach about 15 minutes of Tammy. I doubt I would watch Ghostbusters, even if it were free. I still have not see Bridesmaides. Spy was alright, but mainly due to the supporting cast.

I actually thought she was pretty funny in Bridesmaids and Spy. The Boss not so much. I think the novelty of her has worn off.

Snatch: 3/5 stars. Not as good as others make it out to be, but some truly funny moments in it. I'd recommend.

21 Grams: 2.5/5 stars. Some intriguing performances, but overall uninspiring

Dr. Strange

I went in with low expectations because I am not a fan of magic/mystic comic book stories. I am glad I do that, because due to that, I was able to enjoy the movie. It was fun, and certainly worth the time and money.

But I have major issues with how they resolved the issue at the end. It uses one of my main pet peeves in movies.

It was probably seen as more cutting edge 16 years ago. I'd still says its 4/5 at worst but I haven't seen it in a long while.

Anyways, I saw the Jungle Book reboot. Absolutely incredible special effects throughout but there isn't really anything resembling acting in the whole movie. Many lines are actually shot during action scenes with characters heads off screen as to not to animate the animals or to force the main actor to try and act. Which he can't. At all. That could have been your kid or any other kid running around doing the same stuff. The voice acting on the animals is good enough and in some cases very good but the tone of the movie is very dark.

This is a Young Adult movie and not a kids movie. Like an American version of Princess Mononoke except lacking in charm in all areas except for the ending credits and the Bill Murray being Bill Murray as a bear trying to get honey. I'm not sure this in any way replaces the old film but its different enough to see at least once. More of a video game cutscene made for global audiences and less of a classic made for kids. I'll give it a B.

Saw Groundhog Day again. The first 15 minutes of the movie makes you think it couldn't possibly work as a film and then it does. About an hour into it you feel like there is no way they can wrap this movie up and then they do. Its very similar to the later Bedazzled but more minimal to a basic coming of age with rom com elements and in a way that makes it much smarter. Its a dated A but ill still give it an A.

Caught up with X-men franchise last night, watched Apocalypse. It was ok...I liked Dr. Strange better.

Arrival: 5/5 stars, the ninth movie I've ever awarded a perfect score. Officially slots up to number three on the 5/5 list, pushing Training Day out of the top 3. Full review coming in a couple days. What an awesome, thought-provoking film.

True Romance: 4/5 stars. Pretty good, but not as good as the movie its mainly compared to- Pulp Fiction. I wish they had used Walken more- his scene was legendary.

He Kobyashu Maru'd that omnipotent bastard!

My question is if that omnipotent CGI creature is so powerful, how come he has to operate through Viking magicians?

The Place Beyond The Pines: 2/5 stars. How does a movie with Ryan Gosling, Ben Mendehlson, Dane DeHaan, Ray Liotta, and Bradley Cooper become so emotionally devoid? The film was split into three parts. I liked them best in the order they appeared: 1 (Gosling and Mendehlson), 2 (Cooper and Liotta), and 3 (DeHaan and Cooper). Kind of disappointing.
