I have a wild back yard and my living room window looks out onto it.

I was sitting there one day staring blankly out and a flicker was flying straight at me and hammered the window. More or less beak first. Huge bang.

Normal birds usually don't make it if they do that. I ran downstairs to keep my cats away from it if it was lying there stunned. It was just sitting there and when I walked up it flew away, seemingly unscathed. I really don't see many survivors from that sort of collision.

I don't understand how putting pressure on a vein increases blow flow. Seems like it would restrict it.

Veins are for the journey home are they not? So it would "dam" up what was in the brain rather than allow it to flow freely out?
