IMO, this is hard to quantify. you could come up with 50 different teams that look right given the superstars that have graced football for 80+ years.......

Take any position, any team. and compare it to the current crop of say the top 20 teams.......

OSU had a great championship team in 1968. That team wouldn't come close to say, the 2014 OSU natty team, or this year's team for that matter.....

same with the pros.....

take the best team the Steelers or Cowboys had in the 70s. put them up against any of the last few superbowl teams........ not even a contest. Bigger - Faster - Tougher.......

Agree to a point.

I think you have to go with the guys that dominated their competition.

Saying Roger Staubach with his size, stature, and skills during his time in the game, would have dominated college football nowadays isn't worth discussing. We all know he simply wouldn't be capable.

What we can discuss is the impact these players had on the game. The elite of the very elite regardless of when they played, but how they played against thier competiton and/or changed the game.

I feel like they factored in each players NFL career instead of what they strictly did in College, which I don’t like. No way Tim Tebow isn’t on the team if they only factor college

Peyton Manning 2nd team is an absolute joke.

4 solid years, but was essentially a failure his entire collegiate career. Tebow was a winner. As was Tommie Frazier and a number of others that should be before Peyton.

Full on with Herschel and Butler.

Champ Bailey doesn't belong anywhere near this list.

I hate all-time teams like this bc you can tell their NFL career had to do with this list. A lot of better players at almost every position on this all-time team...plus college it's hard to make an all-time team...era, competition depending on conference, etc.

I did agree with a lot of this defense and OL though and Herschel is probably the best college football player of all-time

The whole time I was looking down that list I was thinking that nobody here had a bad pro career. Until I got to the second team RBs Bo got injured and Archie was OK in Cincy.

I like them because it helps us all remember those that paved the path to today.

We aren't here without the greats from before. These are names that need to be remembered, and bantered about for years to come. Many of them dominated like they were in a little league game amid their peers.

True but it doesn't mean they are the greatest...some, sure. I don't consider this the best player at every position imo

Probably not, but I'm glad he made it. He was the best player on the team when I was a kid and first started watching. He's also the reason I pull for the Broncos in the ACF in the NFL. There's probably better corners, but I like the fact that my favorite player as a child got a mention.

Keith Jackson should have been 1st team TE. Mike Ditka?
:L
He was tough but not the game changer Keith was at TE.

This.
I cannot, for the life of me, understand these people's inability to separate college from NFL.

.
Agreed.
For any pro-Manning guys, here's a fun stat:
Tebow threw for as many TDs as Peyton (88 to 89) and half as many INTs, all while rushing for 3,000 yds and 57 more TDs.

Replace QB Stabauch with any one of 30 different guys....VY, Tebow, McCoy, Vick, Major Harris, Mariota, even Flutie if you like the scrambling/running QB.
Every blub on him mentions his scrambling and winning the Heisman.
Yeah, well, he played the next year after that. What did he do? 4 passing TD, 10 INT and he rushed for -1 yard on the season. Craptastic!
Let's put him on the ALL-TIME ALL-AMERICAN TEAM!!!
