Right. He was given a show-cause and fired from Tennessee for a minor violation.

If the BBQ was all that happened, he would still be at Tennessee. The problem was that he lied about it and told others to lie as well.

He is actually very lucky. So far as I know, he is only the second football or basketball coach to ever recieve a show-cause and still be able to work again after the penalty expired. Look it up - it is a very rare thing that getting slapped with a show-cause is not a career-ending screw up.

So this is the situation in which Chip Kelly finds himself. He either needs to find a school that can look past the unethical conduct in his past, or he will have to find alternate employment.

Whats the Washington coaching situation like?

Nothing is going to happen around the Pac this year unless there is some really surprising move. Oregon still looking for a 10 win season. Washington looks to be on the rise. WSU just extended Leach. Oregon State in year 2 with current coach. Shaw aint going anywhere. Cals Bowl win and improved on last year buys coach longer. USC just hired theirs. Utah had best season in a long time(but I hear their is conflict between coach and AD) Arizona and Arizona State are going to give theirs a little longer after first few years success despite this years results. Mora might feel a little heat after loss to Nebraska but Im sure they stay with him into next year. Colorado I think stays with theirs for now improvement overall except maybe the W-L side of things.
