I could see us trading Miller but doubt we do Calhoun now.
It will have to appear to the general public we are out of the race

Assessment of team and player expectations so far.
Wanted to be competitive -ok
Establish some winning pieces for late innings.- nope. Blown saves and we look bad 7-9 inning
Middle inning guys. Burke and Moore Good
Superstar players. Not busts but would like more Might be on upswing minus defense
Starting pitching Gray-ok Perez - big plus
Remainder overall disappointment would hope one emerge as consistent innings eater
AAA pitching depth -minus except for Cole. Winn needs to improve
CF MILB depth. Not impressed
Smith and Duran. No complaints

Still looking for a huge difference make to join club other than MIF.

So vying for WC spot never was a goal but guys growing and emerging at mlb level and guys breaking down the door to get added not real evident

Overalll we have had much improved team performance at MLB level but not a lot of spectacular player development especially at MILB level. Even Leiter has to adjust

Agree but we do not need two quality catchers like Huff and Heim. If Lowe keeps hitting,think Huff gets traded. If Lowe flounders, we trade him and Huff goes to 1B. Key is Huff going down to improve his hitting and Viloria moving up as back up catcher freeing Huff to 1B. Long shot but makes sense to me.

Viloria is headed to the big leagues for the first time as a member of the Texas organization. He played in 67 games with the Royals between 2018-20, hitting .215/.267/.287. Kansas City outrighted him off the 40-man roster last April, and he elected free agency at the end of the season after spending the entire year in the upper minors. Viloria latched on with the Rangers on a non-roster pact just before the lockout.

The lefty-hitting backstop has spent the entire season with Round Rock. He’s posted an eye-opening .344/.471/.512 line through 155 plate appearances to earn his way back to the majors. Those results have been propped up by an unsustainable .444 batting average on balls in play, but he’s also walked at a massive 17.4% clip. Viloria’s still just 25 years old and was a fairly well-regarded prospect during his time in the Royals’ system, so perhaps he’ll be able to carry some of that form over against big league arms. He still has a minor league option year remaining, so the Rangers can freely move him between Arlington and Round Rock now that he’s on the 40-man roster.

Kluber has pitched the way we expected him to when trading for him. The expected value of the trade was solid, we just got hit with bad luck.

I have no idea what the Rangers were doing with the Gibson trade.

Thinking the Rangers may be thinking that as well. Huff bat needs to play well or they may just move him. Seems like they have quite a few catcher options

Yeah it does stink not seeing Duran in there. Once Kole Calhoun gets traded that should open up another spot to move Smith into the OF. Also, Leody is basically on his last chance to prove it, gotta play him a bit longer and see what we got with him. Duran is just starting the process.

I agree and in what should be a rebuild I would like to see Duran out there regardless. Kole who was a catalyst in some of our wins a month ago can be a cheerleader and Garver has been a waste so far as well.

Woody currently does not consider this a rebuild. The best players players play in his world of platoons. He is not going to sit Kole much
