The Departed is the heavyweight champ. So many good actors were in it. And I liked that slut Vera Farmiga. I'd put Goodfellas next. Those two flicks were the more intelligently done of the four.

Almost forgot. Pitchers and catchers report in 3 1/2 months.

I can't list 10 movies in the title. Really, this thread was all about how much Scarface sucked and how much ass The Departed kicked. I just put the other two movies in there to give a relative scale of how much Scarface sucked.

Yea the Departed has an allstar cast with Alec Baldwin, Mark Wahlberg, and the elder Sheen who gets pushed off the building- Sqaush, splat-along with DiCaprio, Jack, and Matt (bi) Damon! Phillies, how about The Untouchables and Heat is good too as you mentioned.

Let's be honest. Scarface sucked dick. The most overrated gangster film, or just film in general in cinematic history.
You clearly didn't spend time in Miami back in the late 70s and early 80s. That damn movie was nearly a biopic.

i thought scarface was good. the chainsaw scene in the beginning is a classic. love when they hang omar from the chopper. the end was.. well, real. that just about covers what would happen. they all got smoked. not some "i'm one guy, but i'll take out 900 bad guys" bullshit.

the paid off cop, backstabbing, huge drug deals, hits. i enjoyed it.

The pinnacle of 80s movie making. Truly the Gone With The Wind of its time.

I didn't like it. I don't care how realistic it is-I wouldn't care much for a biopic on the life of a pigeon. It was boring. Pacino thinks he's bigger than everyone else and the movie proves that he isn't. You could basically guess the ending.

The Departed, on the other hand, was much more intriguing. Great roles played by great actors. And everyone dies at the end of the film, which was a great movie, and also a realistic look at the Irish mob in Boston, or in any city.

I was joking around. It was an over the top representation of the drug wars that were going on in Miami during that time. It was a really bloody period for Miami. I mean, it was a really violent time in Miami.

But, Departed and Scareface are two completely different types of movies and not comparable at all. I mean, it was a movie with an Italian playing a Cuban with the worst Cuban accent EVER. Keanu Reeves thought the accent was bad...

Scareface is an 80s action movie version of a mob movie. Just like how Commando and Cobra are awesomely bad, Scareface is great for completely different reasons as to why The Departed is great.

I think Jackie Brown is a little different genre, but thanks for mentioning it. One of my favorite movies.
Samuel L Jackson in a blonde wig saying "The AK-47- when you absolutely, positively have to kill every motherfucker in the room!" It doesn't get much better than that

ok, maybe it's not blonde, I don't know what is going on with his hair but its different
