Patriots Legend Dont'a Hightower Finally Announces Retirement

Longtime New England Patriots linebacker Dont'a Hightower finally announced his NFL retirement Tuesday morning.

I agree but to me he's an Edelman type in that he made the biggest plays in the biggest moments. Shame that doesn't account for anything in regards to the HOF.

In 2022 Donte signed a 4 year $43.5M contract with $19M guaranteed.

Played one year, The guarantee is paid like a bonus and he has that in the bank already, Annual salary breaks down to $10.9 a year.
By calling it quits, Dontae opens up $10.9 on the cap and the Patriots will have $4.75M dead money through 2025.

When a player seriously considers retirement, he's done mentally. Glad he made the decision before the game did it for him. Another leadership hole created. Time for a youngster to step up.

Easy to 2nd guess now but, an roll out RPO by Wilson would've been the correct call there.
