Yeah, if he stinks it up this year, Bill will keep him on the roster for his 4th year and then let him walk.

If he plays well, which I anticipate, his contract offer will be fair.

1. Pick up the 5th year option. Expected to be approx. $38M

or

2. Rewrite and extend his contract. Problem is that it will have to be for no less than 5-8 years and no less than $35M per. Bill's gonna have to bite the bullet and pay him the biggest ever Patriots contract. Welcome to the new NFL.

I think we touched on this before, I feel at least that I have. There were several positions of need, ie CB OT IOL WR P K etc. We grabbed the best CB and then shored up the D. Of the positions of need left why take the number 18 WR when you can have the number 2 or 3 IOL?
