If he can help our defense, we'll crown him Governor, give him the keys to the city and let him have first in line at Franklin's BBQ for a year.

Snow's is now the Texas Monthly crowned champion of BBQ in Texas. But since it's only open on Saturdays, I'll allow it still.

P.S. Pro tip, Franklin's allows call in orders now, no waiting in line. If you didn't already know that. :suds:

Todd Orlando runs a power spread stopping defense. The Air Raid gives him fits. Too bad Oklahoma doesn't run an Air Raid offense. :dhd:

I follow Orlando on twitter-it's a kick. Man of few words and straight to the point. Some troll says, "do you think I'm retarded or just wrong?"

Orlando: "both" :dhd:

Report: DC Todd Orlando awarded record-breaking contract at Texas
Report: DC Todd Orlando awarded record-breaking contract at Texas

Todd Orlando now becomes the highest-paid assistant in school history.

According to a report from the Austin American-Statesman, Texas Longhorns first-year defensive coordinator Todd Orlando is now the highest-paid assistant in school history after the UT System Board of Regents approved Orlando’s pay raise on Wednesday morning.

After following Tom Herman from Houston to Austin, Orlando agreed to a three-year deal worth $1 million per year, which will now increase to $1,090,000 annually as part of a contract that runs through March 31, 2020.

Additionally, Orlando can still earn up to $95,000 annually based on performance bonuses.

Orlando spent that last two seasons serving under Herman at Houston and in 2016, his Cougar defense ranked 10th nationally in total yards allowed (3,900). As a result, upon taking the job at Texas, Herman is now famously quoted for his comment, “I’ve seen Todd Orlando make chicken salad out of some lesser parts.”

Now with a wider array of talent at his disposal, Orlando seemingly has a defense that struggled mightily last season on the up-and-up. Numerous reports throughout the spring indicated that Orlando’s defense was often overwhelming an offensive unit that compiled just shy of 500 yards of offense per game last season and such claims were supported during the spring game.

If Orlando’s first season on the Forty Acres can produce a product similar to what he orchestrated at Houston in 2016 with ‘lesser parts,’ Orlando’s lucrative pay raise will widely be considered money well spent.

Here’s a look at some of the other Texas assistant’s contracts the Board of Regents approved:
  • Running backs coach Stan Drayton: $455,000in 2017, $515,000 in 2018
  • Safeties coach Craig Naivar: $490,000 per year
  • Strength coach Yancy McKnight: $425,000 per year
  • Defensive line coach Oscar Giles: $390,000
  • Offensive line coach Derek Warehime: $390,000
  • Receivers coach Drew Mehringer: $340,000

And, today he picked up the top DT in the state. Not many top level DTs this year in Texas, but we got the best one today. #52 in Espin 300. Reports are he has a high motor, which is a pretty hard trait to find in DTs. Most of them are kind of like male Lions-they look big and scary, can growl to scare shit out of everybody, but then go lay under the shade tree for the rest of the day.

Watched some of his film, liked what I saw.
