Not sure if someone already created one of these, if so my apologies. I figured we should keep all the news in one thread so it's easy to follow. This is for UFAs as well as RFAs you feel are important.

Starting it off, two for today so far.

Greene signing official:
Los Angeles Kings sign defenseman Matt Greene to four-year extension - NHL.com - News

And the first shitty contract belongs to the Lightning, signing Callahan for 6 years/$34.8 million ($5.8 million):
Lightning locks up Callahan to six-year, $34.8 million deal | ProHockeyTalk

I have no doubt Brown's new deal (8 years/$47 million, $5.875 million) was a comp. I hate Brown's nw contract but taken as a comparable for Callahan, Brown has 2 Cups, is the long term captain and face of the franchise and in 2012 was huge in the playoffs and had an impact in the later rounds this season. Similar cap hits, somewhat similar players but Callahan hasn't done enough to warrant the extra $12.4 million over the life of both contracts.

Callahan wanted 6 years/$42 million from NY, dude was smoking some seriously good crack. He is a borderline T6 player, better suited for the B6 lines but has the intagibles. My money is on this contract being bought out in 4 years or less.

Marian Gaborik for a <$5 million cap hit.

and Bob Murray is the top GM...

LOL. I texted the terms of this contract to all my Hawks buddies as soon as it became official this morning--LOVED IT!! Several texted back "hometown discount." My texted response--"F--- YES!! And well earned" I wanted to add "Suck it, Hawkboy!" to each of them like Puck would have, but they were pretty merciful to me after last year and I figured the Gaborik signing at such a low cap hit with all their cap issues was pain enough.

I am really excited to see what happens with player movement today, although obviously no direct implication for Kings.

I'm especially curious about the Ryan O'Reilly situation. He has been taken to arbitration by the Avalanche, I think in retaliation for him signing the Offer Sheet last year (2 years/$10 million by the Flames).

The Lanche matched it but the trick is in the first year he made $3.5 million and in the second year he made $6.5 million (2013-14). That last figure is what his MQO is based on, not the average of $5 million, so that is the minimum he would have to make if he signed a contract.

The deal with arbitration is he can be awarded no less than 85% of last year's salary, which means he could potentially make $5.525 million which is where I think the Avs want to take him. They weren't happy he signed that OS after his only good season (2011-12, 55 points). He went from an ELC to basically a 4th contract. He had a solid season too, moving from C to LW.

Guys in his boat vary between $2.875 million (Logan Couture 2011-12, 65 points/80 games) to $6.5 million (Toews 2009-10, 68 points/76 games, Stanley Cup) so it's all over the map but Toews at least won a Cup.

Curious to see how this goes.

Pretty sure Iginla to Colorado. I can't post link right now but Capgeek.com has him penciled into their cap factoring. I just randomly saw it.

Yeah that's right. The NHL Network just had him on for an interview. 3 years for $17M I think were the numbers. May have been $16M. Good replacement for losing Stasny although Stasny is quite a bit younger.

Kings actually made a couple of signings. Signed David Van der Gulik from Colorado and Adam Cracknell from St Louis. I can't see either of these 2 guys on the Kings roster but Manchester can most likely use them to replace guys the Kings have either promoted or didn't offer new contracts.

Also just saw that Willie Mitchell got his 2-year deal at $4.25M per year from the Panthers. He gets to play in front of Luongo again.

Yeah best of luck for Willie. I think having won two cups hes main concern was trying to make as much as he could. Price tag is a little high for a guy that is 37-38 years old.
