For anyone that doesn't venture too far outside the Steelers board, Hammer himself had this to say about the newly acquired Valesco:

Very, very solid! Started every game last season for us and many were shocked that he lost his roster spot and speculated that the Titans would pick him up later. I think it was a mistake to let him go to but at least we don't have to worry about facing him and a team that has picked his brain for inside info.

He's going to play well for you.

This is at least a step in the right direction... That is, if he is who Hammer says he is! Now lets hope the offense can figure out a better game plan! If only we still had the wizard Sean Kugler around. That man was a magician when it came to putting together a makeshift O-line and coming up with answers. Hopefully Bicknell has something up his sleeves!

Look I aint no coach, nor a genius but here is my fix for Dwyer and Redman.... Make the two idiots carry a football all week, every week, everywhere they go for the rest of the season.... Tell everyone that they have to try and knock the ball out of their hands everytime they see them!!! Now if Dwyer or Redman fumble, they owe the player who knocks it out a thousand dollars. Come games if the fumble, it costs them 10 thousand dollars!!!! I promise you this, they will learn to hold the ball or they will play for FREE!!!

I see the Giants were looking at Dewyer and are now looking at McGahee and Jacobs. There are a few decent players that weren't picked up that are still available. I think Dewyer is still a bad mistake. They should have tried to trade him.

Agreed but you know how Pittsburgh likes to recycle players.... How long will it be before they try to get Mendenhall back from the Arizona Steelers ya think????

$2 mil tender says they wanted him(we matched the same amt to keep Sanders...he was the odd man out in TN...more than anything I like the fact that he played all 16 games last yr.

If you believe the bloggers, the staff just didn't like the way Dwyer went about his business...reportedly, showed up at camp almost 30lbs lighter, then proceeded to gain half of it back by the end of camp...did not grasp the assignments in the passing game, etc.

Tomlin was in a bind basically.

None of these tools at RB are with a dime. The best healthy back went down Sunday and now it all rests on Bell coming back healthy. Glad to hear that they picked up someone to put on the line that can block... 1 down, 4 to go.

I think so too, but Haley apparently is not comfortable with him in pass protection, playbook...maybe that changes with another week of practice...hard to imagine Redman will be getting 1st team reps.

I don't think Dwyer should have ever been cut. So in that regards I'm glad he is back. I would also like Jones gone and guys like McGahee or Wells given a look instead. Just my personal opinion. Carry on.

Answer: NOTHING!

We could only stand to improve with a guy like that. But as we know, the Rooney & Colbert way is to build through the draft not FA. Consider us "lucky" that they even brought in 2 serviceable guys this year in LSH & F Jones.

Gay gave up the most big plays last yr if im not mistaken. And we bring him back. Go figure.
