Second year in a row blowing 2-0 series lead. I sense some changes coming for the blues

Blues lead the league in goals in the regular season and what do they do? Trade a 20 goal scorer(Chris Stewart) for Ryan Miller when they could have kept Halak, Chris Stewart and then gotten Thomas Vanek - Halak's not really much of a drop off from Ryan Miller - now they'll end up without Ryan Miller, Thomas Vanek, Chris Stewart and maybe Steve Ott after this season because of that stupid trade - it was a bad mismanagement of assets and they made the trigger too early

I agreed with moving Halak, but I thought it unnecessary to get Miller. Elliott is more than capable, and if they had been able to get a solid backup for him and a gritty winger type it may have been completely different. I think they spent too much for Miller, and now as you pointed out he will walk.

Don't think any major changes are needed. A little scoring punch and a capable backup will be big. They are pretty well set on D.

And let's remember, the Hawks are the deepest team in the league coached by one of the best who's ever coached. It's not like they got swept by a wild card team.

Congrats Hawks.

Jay Bouwmeester and Dion Phaneuf have yet to win a playoff series in their respective careers...

My comment really has nothing to do with Chicago. Just was sayin' that St. Louis has some good young talent that are likeable hockey players in the NHL. Meant no offense. Congrats on the win, pumpkin.

Yea they aren't close to being likable. They act like they are a dynasty team and complain and act dumbfounded when no one else views them that way.

Every series is the same thing with the Hawks over the past 5 years with the only exception being the Wings series. The other team tries and bullies the Hawks while we skate right by them. Granted it has worked a few times, but odds are Hawks will prevail with that strategy.

Actually, the Blues never really bullied the Hawks in this series, it was more so the Hawks were bullying the Blues the first two games and it didn't work and when they realized they can't play that way in order to win, they shaped up

That really has nothing to do with the players I'm talking about. Maybe you feel that way because you are in Missouri and are close to their fanbase. But I've never heard Pietrangelo, Oshie, Steen etc. say anything regarding a dynasty.

Even though the Blues out hit us 40something to about 13 in game 5? Ok

You are right it is mainly the fan base but still I dont think Backes is a good Captain at all.

27 hits to 42 in game 1 in favor of Blues
18 hits to 26 in game 2 in favor of Blues

Don't let one nasty hit by Seabrook who never has been known for illegal hits fool you.

Out-hitting a team doesn't mean they're trying to bully you - that's what the Blues have been known for, they've always hit a lot, regardless of if they're playing the Hawks or anyone else

Blackhawks got suckered into it the first two games and it took them off of their game - when they realized that they needed to get out of that crap that's when they became successful

You are prolly right. Blues bullied them and Hawks finally focused on skating by them to win.

These playoff series always seem to go like that. For some reason it takes the Hawks a game or two to get into the swing of things.

Where's MrWallace?

Congrats on the win but I do find it mildly amusing you are asking where this poster is when you never posted in this thread when you were losing. :suds:

I don't see any reason to rub it in.

Hits is usually not a stat indicative of who played the "tougher" style of hockey, though it sometimes can be. What it more often indicates is which team is controlling possession of the puck, with the team with the fewer hits likely controlling the majority of play.
