One of my favorite rubs for any meat (I use it primarily for chicken, but goes well on beef/pork):

Brown Sugar
Paprika
Chili Powder
Garlic Powder
Onion Powder
Cayenne Pepper
Salt/Pepper

Paprika is almost always my base-spice, that I build up from.

Everything Face mentioned is great.

Sometimes I'll add some Thyme to that. I've added ground coffee.

Ya wanna go more south american...add some cumin to it.

A slight change of pace or in something where you don't want to see the granules, try white pepper. Is a must in Mashed Potatoes.

If you want to go zesty... Lemon pepper is good on just about anything. No need to add anything else to it

Probably the first spice I ever bought. Pretty sure it and crushed red pepper flakes were all I had in my spice rack, in college years.

Hell yea... I still keep a tub of crushed red pepper flakes in the spice cubby. Can't go wrong with it.

I stopped using salts as much... Rarely use them outside of marinating anymore. Much healthier, and to be honest it doesn't alter the taste as much as you would think.

I use Kosher Salt on everything. I just like adding my own salt...like knowing how much of what I've used.
