At least thats what he wants to do. He also said that he's "getting to do some of the best work that Ive done in my career".

Im not sure how I feel about this. Ive never wished bodily harm on anyone before.

Oh, that Jerry

Cowboys Corner: Jerry Jones said he is doing his best work now and plans on remaining owner/GM the next 15-20 years

Jerry Jones said he is doing his best work now and plans on remaining owner/GM the next 15-20 years
A day after giving Jason Garrett a vote of confidence as head coach, Jerry Jones gave himself one as owner/general manager.
"The facts are that I really do think the way things have rolled out that I'm getting to do some of the best work that I've done, relatively speaking in my career of these last several years," Jones said on his weekly radio show on KRLD-FM on Friday.

Since Jones bought the team in 1989, the Cowboys have won three Super Bowl titles. But they are 133-133 since 1997, with six playoff appearances and only one playoff win.

Dallas has not been to the playoffs since 2009, going 21-21 in Garrett's three full seasons as head coach.

Jones said the criticism by the media and the fans is "fair."

Jones, 71, was asked to confirm a CBS News story of earlier this week that he plans on continuing in his current role as owner/GM for the next 15-20 years.
"Of course, I said it, and I really meant that and just think about that a minute: Why wouldn't you?" Jones said. "One of the reasons that I to some degree have taken the risks that I have over the years and kind of had the professional life that I followed is so that I get to decide when enough is enough. God willing. So I do get to decide that. It's a certain part of working for yourself if you still are standing when the time comes. So I get to really make that decision, and I want to make it in a way that I think is in the best interest of the team, franchise and really our fans. A lot of people just need to hear me say I know it's in our best interest for us to operate the way we have. It's unfortunate that over these last five or six years that we haven't had a few things turn right for us at the end of the season, needing to win one of out of two games to get into the playoffs, having a healthy quarterback, all of those things. But we've been a lot closer than it seems."

He is right in saying we have been close- but as a Cowboy fan for many years close isnt good enough and the bad thing is he is just talking about the playoffs , not the final 4 or even 8.

If he lives that long, we will endure another 15 to 20 years of .500 football. Not sure I can take another 20 years of this.

Not a Cowboy fan, but I agree that 15-20 years of JJ running the show will put your team anywhere from 7-9 to 9-7 throughout this period.
However, I do have sympathy for your situation. As a fan, what can you do when a wealthy mega maniac owns your favorite team?:L:doh: I thank my lucky stars that we have Paul Allen as our owner and takes a hands off approach to his team leaving the experts to make the calls.:yahoo:

Jerry states he cares about the fans. Yea, right. We as Cowboy fans deserve a better product and better results for our loyalty. And it doesn't take 16 years to rebuild a team, even from scratch.

Two things still hold true for me when thinking all that is jerry.
1. Tell death do us part and I sure hope jerry goes first in order for me to see one more Dallas Championship.

2. IF...IF somehow Dallas wins another championship under jerry...it will be in spite of all that is jerry.

said these two things for the 10 years I've been posting. Those and Onward Thru The Fog GM Jerry.

Jerry is making me sick every time he opens his mouth. He has the gift of saying things that are not rooted in any reality!!!

That 15 or 20 years will seem like 50 or 60 years.
It just gets worse when he speaks doesn't it.

I too wish Jerry the owner will fire Jerry the GM. But considering he's 71 years old does anyone really believe he will last that long. This is just Jerry keeping his voice alive. People are making much to much out of this.

Dallas Cowboys are slowly becoming the Cubs of the NFL

Really sad when a good owner and smart businessman can not get out of the way of the steam roller that has been running over him for the past 18 years and looks to keep going back and forth over him because he is the stupidest smart man in sports.

Im a Dallas Cowboys fan but I just roll my eyes and shake my head at Jerry Jones every time he opens his mouth.

Truly sad the way this has turned out and I did enjoy those 3 Super Bowls but I long for a competent GM that would give us the chance to win more because like Payday said if we win 1 again it will be in spite of Jerry Jones the GM
