Oregon & Bama were no-brainers.

OSU proved they belong.

In retrospect, TCU was probably better than FSU, BUT you can't exclude the defending champs who go 13-0 in a Power5 conference, right? So there was nothing else to do.

But Baylor would have been in before TCU.

This is why the playoff needs to be expanded to 8 teams. With 5 power conferences, deserving teams will otherwise be left out in most years.

Play a tougher schedule or don't lose.

not necessarily... maybe Bama shouldn't have been in.

You need logic lessons.

Personally, I would've loved that. But I don't think that would've been realistic.

Let's hear the 'logic', excluding the super power of hindsight.
Oh, i forgot... Bama beat lots of teams in the SEC... those teams they beat were ranked teams... they were ranked teams... because... because... because SEC.

SEC West bowls: 2-5
Top 5 teams in SEC West: 0-5

Ha. So, the selection committee should have traveled forward in time, learned the bowl results and bump Alabama? Very reasonable. I support them doing that next season. Maybe we'll be cracked that pesky speed of light universal speed limit by then and the return trip backwards before then.

No. you're still not getting this, man.

There should NEVER be six teams from the same division in the Top 15.

It is a situation that feeds on itself... when they play each other, the team that wins vaults forward for beating a highly ranked team... the loser doesn't drop because they "lost to a top ranked team," and the teams in that conf/div always get put on top of the one-loss team pile... which gets them into the BCS final or the CFP, etc... it is WRONG... it's just WRONG... it is unfair to the rest of the teams in CFB...

If the beginning and middle of the season is hard to predict, then NO WAY should ONE DIVISION be gifted such a lofty status.

You're right about the sampling model being flawed, I'll give you that. - The issue is we're still largely going off an eye test. Even limiting the # of teams from each conference ranked highly does little. The only way to remedy that is an expanded playoff. In an ideal world conferences would be eliminated as well and more dynamic scheduling would be encouraged.

Shit in, shit out is definitely right, though.

If there was a way to force the top teams/conferences to play each other OOC, that would help, too. It's not going to happen though.

They could quit counting wins over FCS teams for bowl eligibility. That would go a long way.

When they expand to 8 (or at minimum, 6), the playoff will work a lot better. 6 deserving teams this year and only 4 got in.

They most certainly did not.

This year would've been Bama v. FSU. Another easy and unearned title for Bama.

Not so sure a Bama victory over FSU would have been so automatic, or did you not witness Bama's run defense and secondary last night?
