So glad Brown chose Lewis over Coughlin.

I hate Coughlin. Is he better than Lewis? Yeah, but I think he get's less out of the talent he has than a lot of people could.

+1....

well-coached, disciplined teams who know when to use their challenges are overrated anyway..

plus he supposedly wanted MB to revamp the scouting dept, which they didn't need anyway... plenty of their draft picks are still in the leauge

I think Coughlin is a great coach and thought it would've been a travesty if the Giants had let him go after last season's debacle.

Lol coughlin a great coach. Not by a mile. Every year he constantly gets less out of that team than a LOT of coaches could. They are one of the most talented groups in the NFL. They should win 11-13 games every year.

Well they do already have 1 SB win and that against an undefeated Pats team and now are sitting in the SB again with wins against the top 2 NFC teams on the road. Not sure how much more you can expect from a coach.

How can you credit Eli for being such a good playoff QB, but can't credit Coughlin for being a good coach for those playoff wins?

I didn't say Coughlin was a bad coach but I don't think he is great. I think the talent of that team has carried Coughlin.

That is one of the stupidest things I've ever heard. Eli is a huge part of the talent. He gets Cruz, Nicks and others the ball. He was the 2nd rated QB in football this year. Don't throw things out that make no sense.

He's one of my favorite coaches. I'm a fan of that rosey cheeked bastard. Teams are typically tough and disciplined. I remember the GIants all bitched when he came on as he made them wear suits when they traveled. Then they bought in...

...and actually if memory serves me correctly Mike Brown wanted to hire Coughlin. Katie talked him out of it and into Marvin.

You really think the coach matters at this point when clearly the Bengals issue has been Paul Brown jr. for years. Finally Brown is starting to take advice from others and changing his way very slowly.

It's no worse than saying that the coach doesn't deserve credit. The winning teams are always talented. If that's the case, they Sean Peyton definitely doesn't deserve credit for their Super Bowl. Bill Walsh was a fraud. Jimmy Johnson sucks. Tom Landry? pfffttt. Chuck Noll? Bum. Bill Belichek? Wouldn't have him.

How can you site Victor Cruz, in any argument, when you are arguing that Caughlin 'gets less out of more talent' ???

seems like that would be the exact opposite to me.

Is it me or is everyone overlooking the obvious? Wasn't Tom Coughlin still coaching the Jaguars when the Bengals chose Marvin Lewis in 2003?

If you don't think Victor Cruz is insanely talented then you are crazy.
