It's a travesty that The Moody Blues are not in hall. One of the most popular groups of the late 60s and early 70s that had some of best music made in that period. The thing is most people only know them for one or two songs at most.

The Moody Blues first five albums are fantastic......and then they changed directions.....minus Mike.....
If groups are put into the HOF because they're trend setters.......The MBs should be in for their use of symphonic with rock.....moog synthesizer ...and one theme albums......

That didn't happen until after Octave, which came later in the 70's than their first seven albums...Mike would have stayed with band but didn't want to tour anymore so after Octave was recorded he was replaced. Then they really changed directions.

You're correct about when Mike quit...........and I should have said their first six albums were fantastic........As far as Mike Pinder goes........There have always been rumors as to why he quit.....

I would say their first seven, as Seventh Sojourn was highly underrated. Days of Future Passed started it all but isn't really as good as the six that came after to me.

more inexcusable omissions....

ELO
The Tubes
The Smiths
Thin Lizzy
The Zombies
The Guess Who
Uriah Heep
T. Rex
At least two of those groups will never make it. One being Uriah Heep, some people liked them (and they were an influence to some later bands) but for the most part the critics despised them from what I remember. The Guess Who would be another one.

I always thought, that after the first six albums, they just became a "pop music" band. The first six albums ,for the most part, had unified themes and album covers......There were good individual songs on the later albums though. And they might have been in the R&R HOF if they would have stopped at six.....who knows
Have a great night everyone.........

It's true that Seventh Sojourn didn't have a unifying theme as the previous six but it has some excellent songs on it and the message of "I'm Just a Singer (In a Rock'n'Roll Band)" more or less told you the group was calling it quits as the pressure was really getting to them. I read something interesting that Justin Heyward said about it, they were a band of one mystic, two Christians, a nut case and two other things that just needed to go their own ways.
