Positives:

Turnovers - The Giants have turned the ball over more than anyone this season, while the Seahawks are second in the league at forcing turnovers. The Giants have turned the ball over at least once in every game this season (Seattle forced one in all but one) and when the Giants turn it over more than once they are 1-7.

Eli Manning - Manning is having by far the worst season of his career. He's always been someone who threw a lot of picks, but he usually threw more TDs than he's been throwing this season.

Atlanta Falcons - The last time the Seahawks faced someone who was ranked in the 20s in both offense and defense was their game against Atlanta. That game finished with a 33-10 win for Seattle in Atlanta.

Negatives:

Run Defense - New York is 11th against the run, and 6th in the league in ypc. Defenses have been successful lately at taking Lynch out of the game the last 3 weeks, and none of those defenses came into the game allowing only 3.6 yard per attempt.

Andre Brown - As pointed out in another thread, Brown has been very good for the Giants, but against low ranked defenses. That said, Seattle has forgotten that they were a top ranked defense against the run at times, and that has happened at the most inopportune times. Seattle has to stop the run and make Eli one dimensional.

Justin Tuck - Despite the defense looking bad all season, Tuck has quietly had himself a respectable season, recording 8.5 sacks thus far. It may be more difficult for him with JPP out today, but he hasn't had JPP most of the year even when he was on the field.

Matchups:

Victor Cruz vs. Jeremy Lane - Cruz is a very good slot receiver and Lane is gonna have to show everyone what he can do. It's never a situation a team wants, playing without their CBs, but Lane and Maxwell are much better than most teams #4 & #5 CBs.

Tate/Baldwin vs. CBs - These guys have been excellent at times, and they need to find ways to make plays today. It's gonna be cold, so they are gonna need help Wilson out and catch everything that is catchable and even some things that aren't.

Special Teams - The Giants return game has been mediocre, and the Seahawks have been as good as anyone in coverage, but the Seahawks have seemed to forget about special teams at times. 3 times they have had kicks blocked, and at least 1 in each of their 2 loses. In a way, the blocked punt last week is the reason Seattle lost. They need to bring it in all three aspects of the game, even if it's just to establish quality play going into the playoffs.

Overview:

This game is so winnable on paper, but the Seahawks need to forget about the paper and come at this game with the same intensity they did against the Saints. With that, they also need to put pressure on the Giants early, keep it throughout the game, and never let up. The Seahawks are coming off a game where the expected points contributed by the offense and defense were more than the team they were playing, and still lost. Seattle needs to finish off this season strong, get healthy and prepare for a run through the playoffs at home.

good write-up, as usual. I really like the Hawks in this one, I see them getting an early lead and the defense causing lots of TO's, especially with the snow

Looks like the weather is nice and clear and very cold. Glad it isn't a blizzard like it was last week in Philly

Seems to be a game without much discussion at all from the press this week. Hope that is a good sign and I think it is. Hawks should do fine.

Let's get it on!

My son is at the game. He is stationed in saratoga springs so it was a no brainer for him to get a ticket and go.

It's my wife's birthday today so let's get her a great gift Seahawks.

I know we are a run first team, but in a game facing a defense that has been great against the run don't you think you might pass a lot early to open up those lanes? I mean I really hate our play calling at times.

crap that punt looked like it could have been blocked, something we might need to pay attention to.

Come on if we're gonna punt at least pin them deeper. Ryan only averaged a 31 net last week and 30 net on that last punt. All this talk about best punter and historical season...give me some better net yards
