What an absolute disgrace. So Lloyd McClendon, who has a winning record, almost made the playoffs last year and this year lost Iwakuma for a large part of the year, had a second baseman that did NOTHING the first half of the year, had a terrible bullpen and had minor league caliber players at multiple positions including catcher gets fired while Bryan Price, Walt Weiss, Fredi Gonzalez, Brad Ausmus and Robin Ventura are all coming back. The more things change, the more they stay the same. No manager can be judged after two seasons unless they have two 95-100 loss seasons. But for someone to be fired after two seasons with a winning record is almost unprecedented. And this isn't some highly talented team. They have Nelson Cruz. But Robinson Cano didn't do jack the first half of the year; they had the worst hitting catcher in baseball. They have an over the hill "ace" in Queen Felix, they didn't have Iwakuma for basically the first half of the season. And the three games he did pitch in April, he was terrible because he was pitching hurt. The Mariners had more position players at the bottom five of their position than in the top five.
Anyone who expected the Mariners to compete with this garbage team is an IDIOT. I couldn't believe people were picking them to win the AL West prior to the season.
