With Kirk cousins out for the year I wonder if the Vikings are speaking to the Seahawks about Drew lock

Geno has already been banged up this year... and Carroll from his conferences really likes Lock. I can't imagine that's a trade scenario.

Maybe not but I’d be surprised if The Viking’s aren’t reaching out to us.

We're not going to trade a QB to a similar conference team, especially when we have no backup beyond Lock. Not happening.. I mean if they want to give us 2 1st rounders fine.. but again, not happening.

Love to see us going for it. Maybe a little steep but it's better than sitting back and doing nothing.

A bit upsetting because if Nwosu didn't get hurt we wouldn't have made this move.

Ah well... Giants definitely won this trade. Traded a 30+ year old DL for a 2nd rounder.

We also CANNOT tag Williams btw.. he's been tagged twice. This is either Pete's final desperation as a coach or an incoming signing at DL..

More I think about it, not a fan of this move.

He's 29, a couple years younger than Reed, same age as Mario Edwards. We are thin in the the middle and it's gonna show up eventually. You need big boys upfront to help stuff the run. We just watched Cleveland run 40 times on us...don't think that the league didn't notice. If there is a weakness in the defense, it's the d-line.

Not surprised in the least that this team is doing whatever it takes to win now.

Hard to say what impact Williams will have on the Seahawks. The Giants DL was the best part of their team. Lawrence is a top 4-5 interior lineman. Thibadeaux is starting to become a high quality edge rusher. Their defense has played pretty well except when the offense completely screwed them.

Williams provides some much needed meat to the line. I doubt he will have much of a stat line but if he can stand up at the point of attack, that will really help the entire defense.

I think we overpaid by a round, mah dude.

I understand the need, but I think we could've had Williams for a 3rd...

Sounds like it got bumped to a 2nd because the Giants ate the rest of the cap money for the year, which helped us avoid extending him blindly or cutting someone else.

I smell Sheldon Richardson all over again, which was a terrible trade...

Lets be honest, they have not had many successful trades

Seahawks always tend to over pay but then when they trade someone they get jobbed. Watch them trade DK for a 4th and a 7th. :laugh3:

Brock Huard about two weeks ago, stated the move the Seahawks really need to make was trading for Williams. Great detail on how Williams skill set would perfectly fit in with our scheme. I spent a lot of time the last couple of weeks looking into this guy. Just because a media guy thinks we should do something doesn’t mean it is going to happen.

Guess he's s good player but not thrilled with them trading away draft capitol. They already had a slew of DE's.
At 300 pounds, Willams is much more of a DT then DE

I think it'll cost Seattle $10 million this season as well.
Nope 647K is all this one costs us. Giants are picking up the most of the contract. Cash and a player for draft capital trade

It could be. I think the Richardson trade was more of a desperation move than this one is.

Ultimately we need to define what a successful trade would be. If the defense winds up as a Top 10 unit this year, would this be considered a successful trade?

Pete and John are going to be win now.

Scheme wise he really fits in. Our defense played the number two rushing attack yesterday. The Browns are a formidable opponent. Our defense was in the nickel defensive for well over 90% of the game. We used three safeties in base or run downs and three corners in passing downs. Yes we have great defensive backs but this only works if you have a really strong front six. Adding Williams to Jones and Reed pretty much completely shuts down the middle of the line and will consistently collapse the pocket. Add to the mix a HOF MLB. The ability to blitz Spoon, Wagner or Adams will keep the offenses guessing. As the season progresses and our defense grows we will be an extreme force come December and January
