Reports out of Cleveland are that Philadelphia Eagles are close to trading him to the Browns for Johnny Football and the 12th pick in this years draft. Interesting!

That seems steep, since the Browns only offered the #19 to the Rams for Bradford. Offering the 12 and Manziel (who was hotly recruited by Oregon) seems too much, unless they're getting desperate. I doubt anything will happen unless Bradford agrees to re-sign with the Browns; they couldn't be dumb enough to do this for a rental, could they?

It moves the Eagles closer to Mariota.

Yep. I don't think Kelly is done and I would not be surprised if Kelly pulls another trade involving Sammie.

It makes sense from Chip Kelly's skewed perspective, but I don't see the Browns signing off without getting more compensation back and/or Bradford extended.

Just about everyone I have read or watched have stated that the guy Kelly really wants is MM. Manziel is just a means to an end and a nice back-up that Kelly believes he can handle. If Johnny boy thought he was football purgatory in Cleveland, he is in for a very big surprise in the hell is going to receive in Philadelphia.

I can see the trade from the Browns' perspective. Since Joe Thomas said yesterday that Manziel lost the trust of his teammates, it would be getting rid of a headache and a distraction for the team, not to mention dumping his contract. The Browns need to start somewhere and they still have the #19 pick.

Ok, so hear me out on this. Follow the bouncing ball. Bradford to Cleveland for #12 and JM. Then Philly comes calling to us at #10 and offers us Johnny Football to drop to #12. We still have our choice of Collins, Waynes and a WR at #12 AND we get a guy who NEEDS desparately NOT to be the guy for a year or so. He would be a perfect backup to Foles and also eliminates the need to reach on Petty,Grayson,Mannion et al. I know it is a risk, but it might be a risk worth taking.

Not necessarily a Manziel lover RC but #1, he would be a better backup than Keenum or Davis and #2 if he gets serious he could end up being a pretty decent QB.

Manziel is a locker room cancer because of his off-the-field appetites. WE don't need that kind of presence in our locker room especially with quite a few players who have left their immature ways and have grown up under the tutelage of Fisher to be decent people as well as damn good players. Manziel would be a very bad decision and I'll take both Keenum and Davis over that egomanical butthead any day. Sorry, commish but I disagree with you on this one.

Totally agree, JM was a very good "college" QB, I don't see him ever doing anything in the NFl, and I would take Davis/Keenum hands down any day over JM.

I agree Smed. I think Manziel has an over-inflated opinion of himself and his skills and although he may have had some treatment for his appetites, his narcissistic tendencies border on the egomanical. He isn't going to do diddly in the NFL until he changes his approach.

I don't know about this rumor it doesn't make since for the Browns. Why would they give up a #1 pick to have Sam for only 1 year? No way Sam signs an extension unless I guess the Browns open up the check book. That would be dumb. Also it's hard to imagine the Browns would give up the 12th pick and I'm sure that's what the Eagles want to be in striking distance to move up to get MM.

Bradford is still a question mark...but better (when healthy) than what they have in CLE...#12 w/o a long term deal makes little sense though. Too early to drop a large chunk of more G $ on him unless they are in the form of roster bonuses.

After sleeping on it, I agree 100% with retro, smed and the others. No need for us to make a deal that includes Manziel. I want this cat nowhere near the locker room. How about this instead? Cleveland trades us the #12 and #19 picks to move up to #10. At that point, we can grab Cooper (or White) at #12 and say Cameron Erving at #19. That would be HUGE!!

Or a little bit lesser deal, trade us #12 and a 2nd rounder and we can select Lael Collins at #12 and then a shutdown CB like PJ Williams or Marcus Peters AND a WR like DGB, Strong or Perriman in round 2.
