Rings make a difference but they aren't the only defining attribute of greatness. Plenty of great QBs don't have a single ring. Moon, Marino, to name a couple old guys. Or even Romo and Rivers if you want to go more contemporary. Two of the all time greatest, Favre and Manning, only have one each so "rings" don't give absolute proof of anything. I mean would you rather have a prime Bradshaw or a prime Peyton Manning if you were starting a team today?

To your point...yes, Brady and Montana are bolstered above the rest in the minds of many because they have the rings and the stats...but since we're talking about hierarchy within the all-time great family...P. Manning is widely considered to be above Terry Bradshaw.

Rings matter, but your play on the field has to warrant you being an all-time great.
