According to CBS and the Indianapolis newspaper, the Patriots and Reggie Wayne have been in contact. The Ravens are also interested.

The Patriots have always like possession receivers and Wayne is a perfect possession guy.He says he wants to play for one more year and wants to play for a Super Bowl Contender.

In the NFL, "interest" often gets confused with a team merely checking up on a player's medical progress while asking purposely vague questions about where said player would like to suit up next season. Maybe that's the case here, maybe the Ravens are trying to fly under the radar until after camp, when they don't have to pay Wayne's entire salary for the season.

Either way, a team on the verge would be wise to take a flier on one of the best receivers of the last decade. If nothing else, he'll bring an unquestioned level of leadership and experience to the table.

Tyms gone, Gibson on IR, Dobson can't stay healthy, Boyce cannot catch a cold. LaFell still on PUP. This is the best guy out there. This is a good move. A smart Vet who can play the game. He was hurt all last yr and still put up 800+ yards. I like the move, it's time to move on from Tyms and Boyce....

We have some rookies that are unexpectedly good. We still have a lot of "sorting" Wayne is a good pick-up bot not the solution. If he can contribute and mentor the rookies, He will help greatly.....

More likely - a poor man's Brandon Lloyd... nothing to write home about... and plays just 25-30% of the snaps because he's so old.
