If Strait has to clear waivers I see a team picking him and maybe Reese but the rest will be in Wilkes-Barre.

I assume the reason Bennett was sent down over Tangradi was due to fact that Tangradi had to clear waivers.

Thanks for the info.

Today was one big waiver-flush. Every team have/will dumped their waiver players today so the wire looks like a giant school of fish. Hopefully Strait finds safety in numbers.

I hope he makes it through. Strait looked good in spots last season. Plus, he's been in the system for a while, would hate to lose him for that reason, alone.

Few days behind but Strait is an Islander now. Good for him he will probably be in the NHL now.

Apparently the Pens have traded ahl defenseman Carl Sneep to Dallas

Thought? Does trading Carl Sneep clear room in #AHL for Mark Eaton to sign, and bolster #pens depth on D? #penstalk #tribHKY

And Ray isn't done yet:

Shero doing some dealing: Carl Sneep to Dallas for conditional pick; Benn Ferriero to NYR for Chad Kolarik -- latter per @KatieStrangESPN

Welcome back Mark Eaton.
I would take Eaton as depth over Sneep any day.

Looks like Eaton is not a Penguin but on a tryout contract with WBS. So is Mr. WBS Penguin himself Tom Kostopoulos.

I bet if Niskanen misses any time they might official sign Eaton.

If TK makes it back to the big squad, will TK have to give up the nickanem TK because the original TK will be playing again?

This was a wise move by Shero. Lovejoy was a spare part with Despres on the 23 man roster.

I wish he would've done something similar with Brian Strait, instead of waiving him, but the compressed time schedule to make the roster fast due to the lockout probably forced his hand.

I like trading Lovejoy, but I thought it was strange that they made a corresponding move to call up Dylan Reese. When Niskanen is healthy they would be back up to 8 d-men, and I would imagine Reese has to go through waivers to go back down.

Yeah moving Lovejoy was a good idea just like Sneep was a few weeks back. Shame what happened with Strait but I think getting Boychuk off waivers was a good move to replace that value. Seriously if that was a true trade I would take Boychuk.

I don't get why the 8 d-men either but maybe it is to showcase another d-man to see if there is value for a trade or the fact Shero and Bylsma feel the need to have 8 on the roster to rotate them through to keep them fresher for the playoffs?
Doesn't seem logical to me but with the short season and the fewer breaks between games it might be needed?
