He really wasn't though. He is a low efficiency ball dominant scorer who offers little else. Guys like 2017 DRose are a dime a dozen.
Now, if we are talking pre-injury? That dude was a beast. Rose and John Wall are the two fastest players I have ever seen going the length of the court with the ball. So explosive.

One of the most impressive things I saw on a basketball court was from Rose.
I was in Las Vegas for an AAU basketball tournament. Rose was on the same team as Eric Gordon and they were playing Kevin Love and Brandon Jennings.
Someone from Jennings team missed a shot and Rose got the long rebound in stride at the FT line. A guard from the other team (not Jennings, still a D1 athlete though) was backpedaling at half court. When he saw Rose get the ball, he turned to run back and Rose still beat him to the rim and dunked it. It took him about 2 seconds to get to the opposite rim.
