Root For or Root Against?

It amazes me that some on this board seem more interested in cheering for the demise of their rival team than they are in cheering for the success of their own team.

As a Giants fan, I smile when the dogs fall on their face or when the A's trade another young stud away, but that is just the side dish. My meal is cheering for the Giants. That trumps all, all of the time.

Where is the line? Is a Yankee fan relishing in Sandoval's performance being a hater, or just a good Yankee fan? Is a Cubs fan laughing at Hack-Gate just showing his Cubs-love? What if these same fans dedicate more time to hating the Sox or hating the Cards then they ever do loving the Yanks or Cubs?

@HammerDown certainly makes it known when he drinks the hatorade. I do have to say, the Angels FO deserves a ton of flack. Just like Ruben Amaro to much larger extent.

In the meantime though, I am just being patient with the Royals' rotation.

One of the main reasons I do not watch basketball. I find myself rooting for the Lakers to lose, instead of a team to win. While I root for the Orioles to do bad, I would rather see the Yankees win.

It seems that some get more enjoyment from scheudenfreude than they do from their own team's successes. These fans exist in every fan base. I just don't understand the mentality.

I feel like hanging myself following heartbreak loses regardless how rivals do.
