I think I gained more appreciation for him after his death, than before. It was a Tupac/Biggie thing for me, and I chose the West Coast style when I was younger. I'm older and I get that Biggie was pretty damn talented.

I don't agree with people who say that rap sucks now and has since Tupac and Biggie died, but it is definitely a different generation of rappers out there. You can't rap like they did anymore and I think that is alright.

It's one of my biggest pet peeves.

The Notorious B.I.G. is borderline GOAT- if he had stayed alive and put out four more albums, I'd probably regard him as high as Nas.

In fact, him and Nas' careers are very similar in that they're both two New York dudes whose first two are regarded as among the greatest hip-hop albums of all time. Big of course was just killed, so couldn't possibly fall off a little with subsequent albums and then come back with more fire (not saying that would have definitely happened, but it wouldn't have shocked me).

In fact, Nas referenced this on Jadakiss' song What If:

"What if I went instead of Notorious-
Who would tell my story after?"
