Jim Zabel: Gone too soon at 91 | TheGazette

I remember when I was kid watching Iowa games on TV. The announcer would inevitably suck (sound familiar?) and we'd turn down the volume on the TV and turn up Jim Zabel.

The guy was awesome. 91yrs is a pretty sweet life though.

I didn't listen to the games on radio that much, but all of us were listening to that OSU game with that Zabel call....if I remember, that game wasn't on TV that weekend for some strange reason so we were all listening to it. What a character he was. Used to watch "Let's Go Bowling" all the time and "Beat the Bear" too. Honestly, hadn't heard his name in a while so didn't realize he had made it this long. Great, long life.
