Yes you do, however wasn't the recall because of the car being in park and it still failing? I know when I get out of my car I certainly am not thinking it will roll back and kill me

Park isn't failing. It is simply people thought they were putting the car in park and were leaving it in neutral or even reverse.

Crop thinning.......

From many years of driving standards only, I have never gotten out of my car and left it running. Engine off, in gear and E brake on.

Now that I have a couple of German slushomatics I still never leave the car running if I'm not in it. In park. Engine off and E brake on.
