BATON ROUGE - LSU will honor military veterans, prisoners of war, and soldiers missing in action, with a symbolic seat in Tiger Stadium.

The Tiger Athletic Foundation and LSU Corps of Cadets sponsored a plaque and seat, situated near where the team runs onto the field each home game. The POW-MIA Chair of Honor will remain blocked off and vacant at all times, to symbolize that those soldiers will always have a place at Tiger Stadium.

"This is such a meaningful gesture for me and the over 322,000 veterans that live among us in Louisiana," Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary Col. Joey Strickland said at an unveiling Thursdsay.

Two cadets will stand guard at the chair before each home game, making their debut Saturday when the Tigers face the Arkansas Razorbacks.

Similar memorials are planned for Alex Box Stadium and the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.

This is very admirable. I salute LSU and will be cheering for them on Saturday.
