26 years ago today, Carlos Quintana started a 6pm game for ‪#‎PawSox‬and the 7:30pm game for the Boston Red Sox.

Pawtucket first baseman Carlos Quintana and his teammates took the field at 6 p.m. for the opening game of a doubleheader against Iowa. A few minutes later, Boston Red Sox general manager Lou Gorman summoned Quintana to Fenway Park to play first base for the parent club at 7:30.

When the top of the first inning ended in Pawtucket, Quintana was hustled to a waiting station wagon and whisked to Boston, some 40 miles away. Quintana, already wearing a Red Sox uniform, put on a Boston cap and took his position at Fenway just in time for the game, earning him the rare distinction of starting a Minor League game and a Major League game on the same day.
