Getting rid of Price had to happen and if it took losing Mookie so be it.
And if they can get some more flexibility with Graterol I'm OK with that to.

Sources: Prospect's exam holding up Betts trade

The deal, which would send Betts and Price to the Dodgers, outfielder Alex Verdugo and pitching prospect Brusdar Graterol to the Boston Red Sox and starter Kenta Maeda to the Minnesota Twins, was not completed Wednesday after being agreed upon Tuesday night. The Red Sox, sources said, were spooked by a medical review of Graterol, the hard-throwing 21-year-old right-hander who has undergone Tommy John surgery and missed time in 2019 because of a shoulder injury.
Alternative options to complete a deal exist, according to sources. The players involved could be amended, as could the amount of money Boston is sending to Los Angeles to cover a portion of the $96 million still owed Price. The Dodgers and Red Sox could theoretically opt for a two-team deal or involve a different third team; Graterol is currently with the Twins.

Just a thought-maybe do the medicals before you announce the trade?

:noidea:

Especially for a pitcher you may envision as a reliever in the long term.

Stupid, stupid trade.

Hence the luckiest retard in baseball.

overpay for any good FA’s. Trade away the farm system. Leave franchise in shambles.

Yeah, I'll take back any defense I may have had. 2018 was great but now there's so much stench around it. I wouldn't have been too upset at the prospect of a few down years, but not at the expense of this.

JD opting into his deal made this happen.

that too, I don't think anyone expected that.

If jd opted out they could’ve dumped Jackie and pretty much gotten there. But the problem is the number...they were never giving mookie that much money into his late 30s

I can understand that, but I'd add that the only reason you feel that way is because of 2013, 2007 and 2004. Take those away, and you probably wouldn't mind.

I know that I'd be fine with someone fucking up the Indians' future for a while if it meant a championship.

Well that's a take on what I said.

Perhaps rather than reading what you want to into, take it at face value.

The problem with the deal is that the Red Sox are SUPPOSED to be one of the rich teams. And they just gave up arguably the 2nd best player in baseball and a pitcher who is still effective when healthy, granted which isn't all that often,

So, you think this doesn't imply that he was an asset?

Perhaps you should work on your writing chops.

2007 and 2016: The only baseball seasons where I was legit angry with how the seasons ended. I'm not proud of it, but seasons resulted in my breaking 2 different household appliances.

You probably remember that back in the day, I was a Red Sox fan. 2007 absolutely killed that for me. Not only did they knock the Indians out of the postseason, but I was also convinced that the Red Sox front office leaked the PED news about Paul Byrd to create distraction, the cheating fucks.

That's also the year when the Red Sox became Yankees Lite: all the arrogance, with a fraction of the success.

I blame the inventor of drones for 2016.

As a baseball fan, it sucks to see the same thing happening with the likes of Lindor and Bryant. I hope you guys at least get yours before Lindor's gone.

I stated an empirically true statement. When Price is healthy he is effective. He had a 3.19 ERA last year before he got hurt and then plummeted.

That doesn't mean he is worth his salary and since assets are based on both performance AND cost, I have no idea how you inferred that.

So you wrote about how it's so wrong for the Red Sox to have "gave up" a liability?

That sounds stupid.
