Ranking the SEC Week 6

These rankings are based solely of what has been done on the field to date (no potential factor considered):

1. Mississippi State - Right now they have the best resume and get Auburn at home next week which works in their favor.

2. Auburn - Has to find an answer for short yardage and figure out how to contain Dak Prescott or there is going to be a big drop for them.

3. Ole Miss - Undefeated and beat Bama an argument could be made for the top spot.

4. Alabama - Their future depends on how the team responds will they pack it in or fight until the end? Finally watched most of their game offensively pretty predictable run left and throw right.

5. Georgia - With Gurly they have a shot to beat anyone if he gets hurt they will look about like Florida.

6. Texas A&M - These guys might be in trouble like 5th in the division kind of trouble.

7. Arkansas - will probably end up 6th in the west but would come in no lower than second in the East.

8. Missouri - Just be glad you don't play in the West.

9. Florida - They are squeaking by and winning plus they play LSU this week and I like the gators.

10. Kentucky - You don't want to play these guys right now they are fearless.

11. LSU - I don't think they are going to beat anyone in the West this year.

12. Tennessee - Missed a big opportunity this week to take a step forward but instead they may have saved Muschamp's job.

13. South Carolina - This team is in trouble and might drop a couple more this season.

14. Vandy - Back at the bottom and likely to stay there (had a shot in the SC game though).

Three big games this week that have the opportunity to flip some of these rankings:

Auburn @ Mississippi State
Ole Miss @ Texas A&M
Georgia @ Missouri

Yep, except for the bottom four or five, they just aren't very good this year.

When you have 14 teams there are going to be a number of teams that take the brunt of the beatings. Mississippi State last year probably could have won a division in both the ACC and B1G instead they 7-6 playing in the SEC West ended up in the Liberty Bowl and destroyed Rice.

Saw a couple of people asking if Miss State was the "Auburn" type team this year. Truth is that isn't a very good comparison Miss State was a good football team last year just suffered some key injuries but in 2012 Auburn was not.

Right now we all want to say Florida is terrible but they are 3-1 (would've been 4-1 but game was canceled) and they seem to have found an answer to the QB problem. If they progress enough before they play GA they have a shot to win the East.

Kentucky on paper looks bad but they are playing fearless.

Arkansas destroyed TT but will struggle to win a Western Division game except maybe LSU.

Now LSU and South Carolina have real problems.

Teams need a little luck along the way to make to the NCG, doesn't matter what team either. Luck as in, staying healthy, get a good bounce somewhere, the right call at the right time. If you look back at all the past winners of the NCG I'm sure you will find for one, that they were able to stay healthy and they probably got a good break or two along the way. There is always a little luck involved somewhere for a team to go unbeaten or win NCG.

One has to ask, how do you pick your "favorites"?

I have a Random Favorites Generator.

Nah, I'm just messin with you. I have my parrot poop on the sports section every week. Any teams that remain somewhat clean get honored.

LOL! I kid, I kid. I actually scan the boards to see who needs the most pissing off this coming week and then I pick the teams that are playing them.

Nah, seriously! I'm just joking, I'm not joking.

I've got you slated for the BBVA Compass Bowl in Birmingham. If you need tickets I can hook you up.

I can see Mizzou ahead of UGA, no problem there as that one gets decided this week. But to have Florida as the best team in the east? Driskel threw for 59 yards. In a one point game. With three ints. I need to see more than two close wins against UK and UT before I put them in the top ten SEC teams.
