Self-proclaimed Asshole
2 or 3 more of those please CJ.
and he's hit 2 infield popups on major uppercut swings. and on each he had a disgusted look like he thought the ball was going to take out a window in the outfield
A lot of people bitch about his swing without looking at the numbers. I made that mistake early in the year.
i looked at the numbers all season and wonder what they would have been if he abandoned that uppercut swing that he adopts at times. i think both could be 20-25 points higher maybe more without it. but he's still one of my favorites on the team
nope i want him to swing more level and drive the ball into the outfield which means more singles, doubles and maybe triples and puts him on base even more than he does. keep doing what he does but lose the uppercutSo you want him to hit 1.000 or groundout more?
Then he's going to hit about 10 homers instead of 30+. That's the trade off.

don't agree. most of his homers come when he swings a more level swing.
The uppercut gives him his power. He did play in less games last year, but the power numbers were down across the board because he leveled out the swing. The team seems to think a .355 OBP from the leadoff hitter is just fine. OBP is way more important than BA.
How can you not agree? The numbers prove it. You just can't admit that you might not have the best answer, or that there really isn't a problem.
I would find it hard to believe that hitting the ball into the air helped to increase anybody's OBP. Tha just doesn't make sence to me.
