Nathan is just... wow, right now

Too many people were busting his balls early. I really just figured he needed to learn how to pitch with a good arm again. He's pretty much got my trust now.

Nathan has just been lights out for quite a while now. So far, quite the shrewd signing.

Especially when you put the pitchers that close to the felons in the seats there in Oakland.

And another completely embarrassing game for the Rangers. We got shutout by a starter with over a 7 ERA at home and a closer with over a 5 ERA there. Colby throws a gem and the Rangers only managed to get a runner to 2nd base in one inning. Unreal. I can take losses to the likes of Weaver, Verlander, Felix, etc., or even the occasional rookie starter like Moore or Parker who the Rangers have never seen before. I can also take splitting or losing series to good teams like New York, Tampa, etc. But getting absolutely clobbered in back to back series against Seattle and Oakland, two teams who were struggling mightily before playing Texas, where the pitching suffered at least one blowout loss and the hitting was on the verge of getting no-hit or shutout is just really hard to watch as a fan. Bartolo Colon was throwing 88 mph batting practice fastballs over the meat of the plate and we didn't even come close to scoring.

It's a long season and I'm sure we'll snap out of this mediocre funk sometime soon, but watching our All-Star team look totally lost for the majority of the last month has even the broadcasters, journalists, and commentators scratching their heads.

Unfortunately I agree with you. This is a part of our schedule where we should be getting wins and increasing our lead over LA. I still think some trades have to be made before the deadline to have a legit shot at winning it all . Keep an eye on the Philly situation with Hamels. If they are out of the race by the end of July he is someone who could be the difference for us. Also Ryan Dempster may be available which would be a cheaper option. Bottom line this starting pitching is not going to get it done. Its too inconsistence.

My biggest concern is whether holland will be able to get his form back. He lost 15 lbs of pure muscle in 2 weeks. You know how long it's going to take to get that back?

Another great start. 3-up 3-down and then fall behind on 3 singles.

At least Cespedes is out.

Beltre is just lost. Another not even close strikeout.

Beltre isn't just lost. He's not even in the same zip code :L.

Haha! Yes, he along with several others never even got on the team plane. As Grieve just said, the Rangers are missing fastballs and hanging breaking pitches right over the middle of the plate that they or any other major leaguers would normally clobber.

MY's approach isn't really working any more. The right fielders are playing him on the foul line and all those fly balls and sinking liners the other way that used to fall in are routine outs now.

Thats where his velocity went when he lost all that muscle. Its going to take awhile.

That's what I'm saying. It will take till at least the all star break to get that back to close to normal. Good thing we signed Oswalt when we did. Feliz may find his way back into the rotation after all.

Amother very weak AB by Murphy. How many weak foul ball pop-outs have we seen from him lately?
