You traded your QB and we have $20M in cap space. We could have kept Amari if we wanted to. They chose to resign Gallup and use the money elsewhere instead

Wentz wasn't traded for cap reasons. He was traded because he was demanding a trade.

Sounds like they couldn't have kept Amari if they needed to use that money elsewhere.

You had cap space because you traded your QB that you screwed up by signing in the first place. If you didn't you would have had a cap problem.

Simple math shows the Cowboys have $20M in cap space. Not sure why there is a discussion on that one. It's not about whether they could keep Amari, it was whether or not he was worth his cap hit to them and he wasn't. They may not have made the right decision from a football perspective, but they did from a cap perspective.

No we didn't get cap space for that. We got the largest cap hit at the time in the history of the league by trading him.

Weird mental gymnastics there. Your best WR and Dak's favorite target traded ro pennies on the dollar. Your team is worse, you've seen multiple key guys leave in the offseason. Lot good that cap space is doing you.

The cap is not a one year thing. You absolutely gained cap space by trading Wentz.

So at least now you gave up on the fact that they couldn't sign Cooper because of the cap. Baby steps. Oh, and he wouldn't have been our best WR

Is Lamar Jackson making a big mistake by turning down the contract offered by the Ravens. Supposedly the 2nd richest deal offered in NFL history, but he wants it 100% guaranteed. Is any team willing to pay him $250 million over 5 years guaranteed if he happens to hit the open market? If you think so, who and why?

Why should he accept the 2nd richest deal? Next man up gets the top deal, and he's a recent MVP. If the Ravens don't ante up, they're dead in the water.

We are also dealing with a dead cap hit for Wentz this season as well.

And again, Wentz wasn't traded for cap reasons.

Cowboys have completely butchered their cap situation and their are a worse team now for it.

No way you were gonna pay a back up QB that kinda money.
You had to trade & try to recoup something for him after signing him to that huge mistake of a deal. At least you got good draft picks for it. But that was the Colts mistake.
