The details of the restructure is just moving money around. No extension, no loss of monies. Chris is due a base salary of $13.25 mil this year. They took $6 mill and change and restructured it as a roster bonus to be paid out over the last four years of the contract which lowers his base down to around $8.7 mil this year, $6 mil of it does not count against the cap this year. After signing Jake Long, Jared Cook, and William Hayes, they found themselves with only $244,000 of cap space to sign their rooks and other players. Now they have $4.6 mil of cap space plus a little extra to sugn draft picks and possibly Harvey Dahl.

Long knows that good things are going to happen to the RAMS in the next couple of years, He's a team player, and knows what's it's going to take to make the RAMS better. Still gets paid, just helps the RAMS this year sign those two No. 1 picks.
