I was referring to FA mostly.
Mock drafting is really just kind of silly at this point because we're only in week 2 of FA. Plus it's not like we're picking top 5 anyways.

NO way you take the #3 rated WR at #10. The #4,5 WRs are not that far behind.

I think the thought is Cooper, White, Parker are extremely close. At one time i know some people had Parker the #1 WR. the 4,5,6 guys will be gone by the time we pick in the 2nd. I wonder if Parker would be rated higher then the top CB.

One example does not fit all though

There are plenty of guards who have converted to tackle and have had successful careers. You can't make a general statement and not expect to have someone give examples that counter that.

There are also plenty of examples of players that did not. Each case is separate.

The nightmare scenario seems to be Blalock going to Detroit, Wiz going to Seattle and Barksdale going to Tennessee. Id imagine that Barksdale getting signed is still the best bet

I agree. In Scherff's case, some scouts feel that he is that prototype mauler if he's kicked inside.

Since that doesn't say a consensus of scouts, that means some scouts do not share that opinion. Some scouts thought Trent Richardson was worth a top 5 pick too.

That's not to say Scherff can't do it; it's just far from a certainty.

It's rare to find any prospect who scouts all agree on what kind of player they can become. Nothing earth shattering about that.

IMO, I think he's going to be an all-pro guard, much like Martin from Notre Dame last year.

Draft is a crap shoot at best, who thought a LB with 1 year would retire from the 49ers. Pick and sign depth and that is the key.
You can say that again...I am amazed that that guy would retire. I think that's the second surprise retirement for the 9ers in two weeks. I'm wondering if the coaching shakeup has anything to do with it. Whatever it is I'm sure happy to see them crumble. YEEEEEEEHA

Pro bowl is one thing, but all-pro? One of the two best guards in the league?

Yep. It's why he's projected to be the first offensive lineman taken in the draft.

So, nobody in the league is better than a guy that hasn't played the position except a guy that was just drafted last year? Seems a bit of a stretch...

Where did I say that? I said he's going to be an all-pro guard, but nothing about Scherff being all-pro right away. That's too much to expect from a rookie. But, in a few years, I can see that happening.

At the end of day if we draft Scherff at #10 or if we trade down a few spots and grab Lael Collins, we will be getting a mauler to play either RT or LG from DAY ONE... book that.

Where they would play is going to depend on Barksdale. All signs point to us resigning him, but Tennessee may very well over pay. If Barksdale resigns, Scherff or Collins is LG and Saffold moves to RG. If not, Saffold stays at LG and we have a rookie RT.

Just seen the Titans are showing interest in Barksdale. he's still on his honeymoon so nothing is expected to get done till he gets back. Who the hell gets married at the start of FA??

I actually believe that's what we're going to do. I also think that we will go o-line in either rd 2 or 3 as well, as we still need a center. They still could get one in free agency though. We got to build the o-line 1st!
