In a game that we were supposed to win because the Jags are just that bad, we came away with a win and we proved that we can run the ball with a few changes. Shelly Smith started at left guard and Zac Stacey started at RB and somebody chewed the hell out of the O-line because they gave up one sack, had no penalties today, and blocked great on both the run and the pass. Also, the defense played absolutely great with alot of energy and the front seven had a great day. It was good to have Jo-Lunn Dunbar back. Like the offense, small changes were made on defense and Finnegan was out of the game (supposedly due to the flu) and Trumaine Johnson did a way better job in his place. Granted we are still not a very good team, but we took a few positive steps today.

Overall, the team played more like a team since the Cardinal game. The defense kept the Rams in the game until the offense finally got going but our special teams are still having some major issues. This must be fixed because STs accounted for our penalties and they ruined two excellent returns by Austin.

On Offense. The positives. We had our first 100yd rushing game of the season via RB by committee. Stacey had a pretty good day with 14 carries for 78 yards, Richardson was 13/48, and Cunningham was 4/13. The O-line blocked quite well as did the TEs and the RBs giving Sammie enough time to throw 3 TDs and the running lanes were there today as well. We did not have to wait long for a score even though it was only a field goal. Sammie finished the day 19/34 for 22 yds and 3TDs and no INTs. Pettis had a big day going 4/49 yards and two TDS and is rapidly becoming Sammie's go to guy. Kendricks had 4/37 catches and one TD and Quick had a decent day going two catches for 45 yards.

The negatives. Everyone saw it and the broadcaster even mentioned what SJ76 has been stating all along about #8 and that is he holds onto the ball too long, misses wide open receivers, and insists on throwing to covered, double covered, and sometimes triple covered receivers often times with wide open receivers standing nearby. Sammie does not have teh ability to adjust on the fly. He finnaly did get in some deep throws as Shottenheimer called many more running plays and more deep balls than usual. But Sammie needs to adjust on the fly or we are going to get killed again when we face stiffer competition. We still need to have better O-production earlier in the game. It takes the pressure off the defense.

On defense. This was the defense we all have become accustomed two and it helped that Gabbert and their offense were so bad throwing INTs and fumbling to the tune of 5 turnovers. Kudos to our front seven as they came to play. C. Long and Brockers had superb days with each having a sack and Brockers a forced fumble. Laurinaitus had a pick after nearly grabbing two in other games. Trumaine Johnson had a superb game at corner but he did not face a Larry Johnson, Julio Jones, or Dez Bryant. Justin Blackmon returned to the line-up but Johnson and Jenkins did a very good job overall.

The negatives. Not many here. Everyone played smashmouth football forcing many turnovers and the results were self evident.

On Special Teams. The positives. Three guys. Greg Zuerlein continues to boom KOs into the back of the endzone and he was 2/2 in FGs and 4/4 in extra points. Hekker was excellent at punting continuing to boom them as well. Travon Austin is going to score as he had two great runbacks today that were called back because of his boneheaded teammates.

The negatives. Everyone else except for the three aformentioned guys. They accounted for all of our penalties and are going on 17 for the year. They destroyed two great Austin punt returns and allowed for a punt to be blocked. They are continually screwing things up like holding, blocking in the back, or not blocking anyone. And thay have cost us a bunch already. John Fassel better get these guys heads out of their asses or he is going to be out of a job!!

Even though we had a win, we are still behind offensively and our STs are atrocious. Our running game did get off the ground but it has to continue to improve. And Sam Bradford badly needs a QB coach because he simply holds onto the ball way too long, throws the ball into coverage, or does not make the necessary adjustments when receivers are wide open! He has to improve or we are looking at a 6-10 record this year and the FO better start scouting the QBs in this draft because this guy right now is not the franchise QB everyone envisioned!

I agree 100% retro...we played a bad Jaguars team and we should have responded better on many of the drives. I would have envisioned a 42-20 win if Bradford wasn't missing on the throws. This Ray Ray kid on ST needs to be cut, he is last years Mccleod. It seems that we cannot shake these losers.

I think we are stuck with guys like this until they either get better or we do a better job of finding talent. McLeod is starting to come around even though it is ever-so slight improvement.

When your team continues to have large turnover in players from year to year, your ST units will struggle as there is no continuity. There aren't many starting off or def players on ST, so a lot of these guys are new again this year.

I disagree on Armstrong, don't see any reason to overreact and cut him. Too much talent and athleticism.

I'm obviously glad that the Rams won, but have to temper my enthusiasm by knowing we only beat the worst team in the NFL.

Unfortunately, most of the rest of the teams the Rams will be playing are pretty damn good.

Bradford is not going to lead any team to the promised land and the Rams have really not benefited much from their Draft picks this year.

I expect a return to normalcy moving forward.
