Doubt that....but if you want to believe that go right ahead.

Was a legit question....I forgot there was even a QBR until I started watching Undisputed. Skip Bayless is only analyst I heard actually using it. Skip mentioned that Dak was ahead of Wentz but I did not care. Wentz is playing better this year IMO......the laughable thing is that Deshaun Watson is the best QB in the NFL if you give the QBR any weight. Case Keenum is #5...... Wentz is #3. So the stat is laughable becuse 4 out of the top 5 don't belong. Alex Smith is the only ranking it got right.

As usual, fans are gonna hump any stat that makes their favorite players look great, when other stats that make them look not so great, will be labelled as "less meaningful"

Todays its QBR, next week it will be completion %, etc.etc.etc.

so we would punish short, accurate passing attacks like NO or NE becaue they "dont chuck it downfield and pray"?
Pretty much. It would be an imperfect metric, much like QBR. It would have the inverted problem completion % currently has. I think it'd be better, but /shrugs. We still have things like YPA, ANY/A, etc if it's just chucking for the sake of chucking.

we have stats for air yards, completion % on throws over 20 yards, etc.

i agree, a simple stat like DFPA (Down Field Passing Accuracy), say throws over 20 yards in the air...

Sure, but we don't really ever get context put to it. Cam Newton is the posterboy for nerfed completion percentage while not necessarily being inaccurate.

I got it from a movie, but for the life of me I can't remember which one. Maybe Dead Poet's Society.

its "out cold"...the snowboard movie where that spin the car on ice, get in, and wake up zach galifinakis who thinks they are going off the road. great scene.

ok, so in game a guy has 30 completions.

15 beyond 10 yards
15 under 10

what throws count and what ones dont, and how do you quantify that?
Which are easier to complete?
If 2 QBs throw 30 passes each. QB A throws 25 passes beyond 10 yards and 5 under and QB B throws 25 passes under 10 yards and only 5 above. Shouldn't QB B have an easier time having a higher comp %? If he does is that really more impressive?

Note: I'm shocked someone could actual argue this insanely obvious point:noidea: Then i saw the NE part of a subsequent post of yours and understood...You took it as a shot on Brady. Wasn't meant to be that. Was actually thinking of Dak last year
I have been watching undisputed wtih Skip and Shannon a lot this year. I find it more entertaining than First

How many here think the QBR is a viable way to look at QB stats? Does it carry any weight with some of you?
Forget QBR and get some professional help pls

depends on how the offense/personnel is set up.
Correct. It depends on a lot which is why the stat is important but can also be misleading when used to compare two different QBs

QBR is a stat. It can be useful but as with all stats it has its limits. From my I understand I think it should be trimmed a bit. The expected penalties metric seems entirely unnecessary and I've seen that wildly skew the rating for a particular QB.

But if you couple it with other stats like passer rating, Football Outsiders rating and other advanced stats you usually get a pretty reliable indicator of which QBs are playing well.

As with most stats it tends to get better with more data.

He would have to make a tweak to have Ben have a decent FUQER rating after that 5 int game. Your 2nd int negates the 1st and your 4th negates your 3rd,l so technically he only had 1

The funny thing is Skip said only intellectuals would be able to understand what he's going to say next. Then he talked about Dak having a higher QBR than Rodgers in one game, Mentioning nothing about how QBR is calculated or anything. He just said Dak had a higher QBR.

You're an absolute genius, Skip.
