He could get hurt, or go insane.

Maybe I'm counting wrong how the $15 million in bonus will go - prorata it is at $3 Million a year over 5 years. In year three - there is still $9 million in bonus not accounted for by the salary cap - if the cut him in Year 3 - they would owe $9 million in dead money -right?

Broncos typically don't prorate the Signing bonus over the length of the contract. They could and yes each year of the contract would have dead money and all become due if he is cut before the contract expires.

Then it is not a "signing" bonus - misleading.

You are correct sir a signing bonus has to be prorated. A roster bonus does not.

This:

"Never overpay in a salary cap league. Yes, Osweiler is a better quarterback than I thought he was. But not a whole lot better. Not to bore you with analytics, but Denver won the Super Bowl with bad quarterback play that was below replacement cost. The Dolphins were stupid to give Ryan Tannehill $77 million. John Elway is not stupid. No general manager in his right mind would pay Osweiler elite money for seven games in which he was not statistically better than Blaine Gabbert. As a starting point in negotiations with Osweiler, I'm at three years and $28.5 million. Will that get a deal done? Maybe not. But if the Broncos seriously overpay for a quarterback, they're in trouble."

From Mike Kizla. Pretty much my thoughts. Don't overpay just because there aren't better options.

Just to say my " tag Oz " thought wasn't so far-fetched as some of you laid on me.....I heard it twice now on NFL programs last two days as something Denver could consider. So.....there! :)

All he had to do was throw a rock:noidea:
Didn't search anywhere. Just happen to watch NFL insiders, NFL Live and NFL Access everyday. Be surprised how much you might hear when you actually watch those. Course it's just " television ".

Right now it feels like there is no real market for Brock. Houston at #22 but all teh other teams that need a QB at $13MM a year have a high draft pick. If you want to switch out Fitzpatrick for Oz and draft a QB I'm all for that.

I would say there is a bit more of a market than that. Cecil Lamney said yesterday that Cleveland is really wanting Osweiler to hit the open market and is willing to pay top dollar to get him. I would think St. Louis/LA is another where they already have a great team other than needing a starter quality QB to step in and they might be out of reach for those first 2-3 QB's in this draft. With Washington having Contract talks with Cousins not going anywhere I could see them wanting Osweiler at a bit cheaper price compared to Cousins.

From the sound of it there is 1 actual legal tampering period and then another unspoken one in the NFL. The legal one is that 2 day window right before FA started. The other is the Combine since all the agents of the players are at the event. So while it is not technically legal for the agents to ask what a team would pay or a team to ask how much the player is looking for it is one of those the league just closes their eyes and says go ahead and talk.

Also it is not illegal to have internal discussions with players just can't talk to the media about your interest but things still slip out from unnamed sources. Also though leads to a lot of misinformation as teams like to try and drive up the prices of players for other teams and also players try to make it look like they are being the good guy in the situation.

It also represents talk that one team uses to panic another team into paying more than they should - and make the home town fans think they are looking everywhere. The sobering thing is that Oz has started only 7 games - all in Kubiak's offense.

Well I would say his value has gone up just a bit today. Now with Bradford getting $18 million a year and Cousins getting tagged at $20 million a year just seems like Osweiler would be a fool not to go for some pretty big money that is being paid out for even average QB's these days.

Even with Bradford signing, to me still feels like no real market for Brock
Denver will have the best offer at $8-9mm a year
Denver may have to release manning since he will not retire

There's no way in hell that Brock signs anywhere for less than 15 mil. Not saying he deserves it but your wrong if you don't think the market won't be there. Hello, the market is going up for the few legitimate back ups out there. Brock is even considered a possible franchise guy for some teams.

Mike Klis said the Broncos did offer a contract to Brock. From the sound of it the deal was somewhere between what Nick Foles got (about $12.5 million) and that of Andy Dalton (around $16 million). So yes his price is going up from what many of us thought at first.

Would you pay Brock 17/18 Mil a year? Do you think Denver will or go another direction?
