Does Sanchez have any trade value? I cant imagine any team giving up even a C+ prospect for him at this time. He may very well be done.

This. Given his history of concussions, his issues behind the plate and even with the bat. I don't see him holding any real trade value.

OK then, get a decent 3B some other way. If you bring in Tomas and Lester, 3B can be just a guy who can field the position.

I just looked up Bonifacio again...

He has not played a lot of 3B. He played 36 games there in '11 and 86 games in '09. Outside of that, he has a total of 12 games there, and he did not play there in '14.

Maybe he is not a good option there...

Well there's the end of the Tomas dream. Moncada, anyone?

What's your answer for 3B?

The org has said on multiple occasions that Posey will not ever be the reg 3B. The most recent being SINCE Sandoval left.

Not sure that is who you were hinting at or not...

What the org says right now is what they want everyone to hear. It doesn't mean Jack squat. It's chess not tic tac toe. suffice it to say that all options are on the table.

I'm beginning to think that they will only be signing their own players and that they will get shut out on FA's and will end up with a light payroll. In the end I see the FO signing "manager specials" like they have in the past 5 or so years.

This is certainly possible if the deals necessary to sign FAs are too rich/crazy. Basically, saving your chips for 2016.

If Moncada projects to be very good they would be wrong not to overpay to get him as he would fill a need and strengthen the depth.

A Question if the FO "cheaps out" what would a low payroll be in the end?

A better analogy actually is that the game right now is No Limit Hold Em. Which means there's a fair amount of bluffing, semi-bluffing, and misdirection. Each signing is like another card that gets turned up, with more bluffing, semi-bluffing, and misdirection from the FO's. No good player is going to reveal their real intentions.

I'm still thinking Duffy can do the job. Let's work on a left fielder.

Matt Duffy had 60 ABs with us, and a .602 OPS. He has some promise, but IMHO it would not be wise to think we could contend for WSC IV with him as our regular 3B at this point.

Its a stretch, I admit, but I like the way he swings the bat and he's come through already with some nice at bats in big situations in the post season.

That being said, if we can get Headley for 4/50, we should, IMHO. If his back is healthy, he could well be better than our last 3B.
